楽天オープンが終わって、日本ではチャレンジャー大会４連戦ですね。
それでタイムライン眺めてたら、珍しくトアルソンのラケバ持った選手の写真があったんですよね。
トアルソンの契約選手と言えば今年ジュニアの部の全豪オープンを優勝したブルーノ・クズハラ君がダンロップ契約を発表したのが記憶に久しいぐらいには珍しいですが、はたして何者？と思いきや・・・
そう言えばトアルソンのカタログの裏に契約プロが載っているのですが、いました、ジョン・パトリック・スミス選手。
用具契約がウルトラグリップのみとしか書いておらず、オーバーグリップのみの契約・・・？って感じだったので自分はまさかのノーマーク・・・。
それがトアルソンブルーのラケバを背負って堂々たる活躍じゃあないですか！
主にダブルスで出場していて楽天オープンは予選で敗退も、イタリアとスウェーデンを転戦後は日本へカムバック！慶應チャレンジャーへ参戦。
松山チャレンジャーは上杉・松井ペアを破り優勝！
続く兵庫ノアチャレンジャーも決勝に進出して２連覇か！？ってところでしたが、羽澤・清水ペアに敗退し準優勝。
どうです、トアルソン契約プロがこの活躍ですよ。
年齢は33歳とベテランの域ですが、ダブルスは息の長い選手が多いですから、大いにトアルソンの名を世界に轟かして欲しいですね！
それにしても、契約はグリップのみで、ウェアはミズノ、ラケットはカスタムメイドで有名なZUS、それでいてラケバにトアルソンを選んだ理由は気になるところ・・・
ZUSはバーナード・トミックが問題発言でヘッドから契約解除された時に一時期使ってましたよね。
トミックもトミックで解約されたはずのヘッドをまたステンシル入りで使っていて、どんな経緯があったんだろうなぁ、相思相愛なのかなぁ・・・って気になるところでありますが。
JP・スミスもトミックもオーストラリアって共通点はありますがZUSはイタリアのメーカーらしいですけど、たまたまなのか？オーストラリアのプロの間では有名なのか？
拘りがあって選んだのだろうか、でもJPスミスのラケットにはステンシル無いし、契約が無いならトアルソンさん、グリップ以外も使ってもらうチャンスなのでは？
・・・と思ったらZUSのサイトにガッツリJPスミスの名前ありました。契約してるのか。
ともかく、トアルソンブルーを背負い慶應、松山、兵庫でプレーしたJPスミス、最後の四日市チャレンジャーでも活躍を期待したいですね！
