Kimberley sported a floral dress which sat just above her knee in length while she shielded her legs in a pair of opaque tights.

Her dress featured bold purple prints set upon a charcoal base – with the trim layered with cream and dark detailing.

Rather bizarrely she added in patent white ankle boots with a slight mid-heel before leaving the bash in a leather jacket with a thick scarf layered over the top.

Kimberley allowed her blonde tresses to bounce in loose waves which she pulled over to the side – showing off the dark blonde shades.

She injected a touch of glamour to the look with heavy frame black glasses – with a retro feel due to the horn-rimmed shape.

Max was equally casual in a striped polo shirt with loose-fitting black trousers, both parts of the couple keeping things very low-key.

Also attending the launch was costume designer Jenny Beavan who hit headlines earlier this year following the BAFTAs.

After winning the gong for her work on Mad Max: Fury Road, the award ceremony’s host Stephen Fry dubbed her a ‘bag lady’ – much to the chagrin of viewers and critics.

Yet afterwards, Jenny claimed the comment didn’t offend her as the pair are close, something Stephen had already expressed.

Blue On Blue is a dark comedy by novelist and screenwriter Chips Hardy, who is the father of award-winning actor Tom.

The Repurpose Project to Hold a Trash Fashion Show on Earth Day

Robert Prescott Coleman’s ring wasn’t always a ring.

Before he wore it as an accessory, it was a spoon he found in an old box of family heirlooms.

photos:prom dresses 2015

The jewelry designer and metalworker draws inspiration from natural elements and raw materials to create unique handmade jewelry.

“I like to use whatever I can find,” he said.

On April 15, Coleman taught a class on how to cut, shape and polish copper pipes into jewelry at The Repurpose Project. The designer has been hosting workshop sessions every Friday since March 11, leading up to his most recent undertaking: a trash fashion show.

“Repurpose Project Runway” will begin at 6 p.m. on Friday at the Repurpose Project, 1920 NE 23rd Ave.

Better known as Bobby Foxx, the artist will be one of the headlining designers at the fashion show.

Since the event is being held in honor of Earth Day, Coleman said he is using all upcycled jewelry for this collection. With just a few days until the show, Coleman is nervous to present his collection of eight full looks.

“It’s not as put together as I would like it to be,” he said, “but this is the perfect show to experiment.”

He decided to name his works the Phoenix collection.

In Greek mythology, a phoenix is a bird that is regularly reborn. He compares the phoenix’s regeneration to his jewelry.

“These are all things that would otherwise have landed in a landfill or been thrown away and have found a second life and a new purpose,” he said, “as something new and fabulous and fierce.”

One of the featured designers under the name Haus of RTC, Lynn Polke calls herself a creative enabler at The Repurpose Project.

“I work here at Repurpose so I see things and they just talk to me,” Polke said, “and I’m like, ‘Oh, OK. I can turn this into something to wear.’”

That’s what happened when Polke lucked into some Earth, Wind and Fire costumes she would later take apart and sew into something for the fashion show.

She calls her collection a “statement of what we are witnessing right now with the extinction of animals.”

One piece began from a Mickey Mouse sweatshirt. Each piece, she said, represents an animal.

Because of the wide variety of things that can be done with previously used materials, Polke said she is looking forward to seeing unusual things.

“This isn’t the kind of fashion event that you see in Gainesville,” Coleman said. “I think it’s a different kind of expression. It’s good to get outside of what you expect fashion to be.”

High school students protesting “sexist” dress code

Pupils of the Stanislas College in Delft are attending school on Tuesday in crop-tops and hot-pants in protest against the new prom dresses 2016 code. The school’s director sent a letter to parents stating that students and staff members are not allowed to wear “short shorts/skirts and short shirts”.

Hotpants and crop-top (Photo: CSD2006/Wikimedia Commons)“I want to show that they can not send us home because of our clothes”, an 18-year-old pupil said to the Telegraaf. “Clothing is for girls in high school a way to express themselves. It enables them to differentiate themselves from the group. Almost all the girls at school try to look alike. Being different is scary and I don’t think that the small group of girls who can put their insecurity aside and dare t pull those cute shorts out of the closet should be hampered by restrictions.”

The revealing clothing in summer fashion is sometimes a struggle at many schools, according to a survey done by newspaper AD. Arnoud Kuijpers, teacher at Candea College, can see that some summer fashions can be considered distracting, but feels that he can’t say anything about it. “That might seem sexist”, he said to the newspaper. “I ask a female colleague to do so if it really can not be tolerated.”

“If the school starts to too much resemble a beach in Scheveningen, I intervene”, Adam van Heest, rector of the Prince Maurits school group in Middelharnis. “The school is a workplace, so you do not come in beach attire. If you’re with your employer soon, you’ll also have to appear in appropriate clothing.”

Marcel van Loo, rector of the OMO School Group in Bergen op Zoom, also admits to having to address a few girls every summer on their clothing. “If large parts are exposed, we will talk. Because it is distracting and makes some teachers feel downright uncomfortable.”

Poppy appeal! Kate dons a £745 red Beulah dress featuring Bhutan’s national flower in a special tribute to country at glittering reception

The Duchess of Cambridge looked radiant in red as she wore a £745 Beulah featuring Bhutan’s national flower – the poppy – in a special tribute to the country.

Beulah is one of Kate’s favourite fashion brands and is run by Lady Natasha Rufus Isaacs, an old friend of the Duchess.

The showstopper full-length backless prom dresses uk – called ‘Juliet’ – was a far cry from the casual look she sported earlier in the day for a three-hour hike up to the Tiger’s Nest monastery perched on a Bhutan clifftop.

Radiant: The Duchess of Cambridge wore a red Beulah dress for the reception celebrating Britain’s relationship with Bhutan

The Royal tour of India and Bhutan is almost over and we’re definitely going to miss our daily dose of the Duchess of Cambridge’s style. With up to three outfits per day, we’ve not been short of wardrobe inspiration over the last week!

From hiking gear to glamorous gowns, there’s been something to suit everyone. And from Accessorize to Alexander McQueen, Kate has covered all budgets too. But the red dress she wore to a reception for British nationals really is the icing on the cake.

It’s by Beulah London, another of her favorite labels and we love the bright red shade and pretty poppy print. The long sleeves, silk material and maxi length means it’s perfectly appropriate for the occasion, particularly since the blue poppy is the national flower of Bhutan. It’s blooming beautiful!

It’s from the SS15 collection, but the good news is you can get your hands on it by clicking the link (right). Or recreate Kate’s crimson look with the help of our edit below. This Michael Kors Collection dress is dreamy, or if you’re trying to keep costs down, this floral frock from Ganni will do the trick.

Beulah was set up by Lady Natasha Rufus Isaacs, an old acquaintance of the Duchess, who is married to her former boyfriend Rupert Finch.

Her father, the Marquess of Reading, is also close to Prince Charles and as a result, Lady Natasha has known Prince William since she was a little girl.

At the reception this evening, which celebrated Britain’s relationship with Bhutan, William and Kate met Britons living in the mountain kingdom.

William described being in the cockpit of the plane landing in Bhutan as ‘terrifying’ while speaking to helicopter pilot Nic Suddards, 56, from Yorkshire.

Mr Suddards moved to Bhutan in December to fly their national helicopter, making emergency rescues and transporting diplomats.

He said afterwards: ‘He said it (being in the cockpit) was terrifying. There is a house on the approach which is known as Mr Smith’s house and you miss it by metres.

‘The pilot was showing him Mr Smith’s house and he said ‘don’t look at that, concentrate on the runway!”’

Mr Suddards had brought his helicopter to the airport when the royal plane landed but he didn’t get the chance to show the royals around as they travelled by car to their hotel instead.

He said: ‘I told him that he missed an opportunity because the dual controls were in the aircraft specially for him in the airport and he could have flown it back to Thimphu.’

When asked how William felt about that, he replied: ‘Devastated. He said he would have loved to have flown it. I asked him to come and do some volunteer work here because we do a lot of medical evacuations. He said he would love to so we’ll send him an official invitation.’

Kate spoke to Pio Smith, 39, from Newry, Northern Ireland who has lived in Bhutan since last June when his wife moved to the country for a job with the UN.

He said about Kate: ‘She was really interested in hearing about what it was like to raise a family here.’

William and Kate also spoke to Britons Carolyn Ishering, 75, from North Wales and Louise Dorji, 81, from York, who have both been living in Bhutan since 1966.

Ms Ishering said: ‘It was a great honour to meet them, very exciting. She is everything that I thought she was…so elegant, warm and friendly.

‘I told him (William) that I had a connection because my sister had actually been second chef to Princess Margaret in Kensington Palace for a number of years and I was retelling a story about how the lifts got stuck in the palace when I went up to her flat.

‘He said “yes, it does get stuck.’”

Earlier in the day, William and Kate climbed arm-in-arm to the Tiger’s Nest monastery, some 10,000 feet above sea level.

While the prince was seen wiping sweat from his brow, his wife appeared unfazed by the climb and simply pushed her hair back from her face with her sunglasses.

The prince, dressed in chinos, a shirt and walking boots, looked more flushed than his wife – who donned £475 Penelope Chilvers boots and a £495 Nubuck shoot waistcoat over a white Jaeger linen blouse costing £89.

At the end of the walk, Kate told the press pack she was missing George and Charlotte ‘massively’, adding ‘we’re looking forward to seeing them…they’re in good hands.’

She added that they had been able to speak with them ‘many times’ over the week.

The couple will conclude their tour tomorrow with a romantic visit to the Taj Mahal, the marble mausoleum known as a monument to love.

It will mark 24 years since Diana was famously pictured sitting by herself in front of the 17th century monument as her marriage to Prince Charles unravelled. Their separation was announced just months later.

Princess Kate and Prince William have met the “Will and Kate of the Himalayas” – King Jigme and Queen Jetsun of Bhutan.

The young British royals met the Dragon King, 36, and the Dragon Queen, 25 – who both studied in England before ascending to the throne in the small Himalayan nation. Will and Kate arrived in Bhutan after making a dramatic landing from the cockpit. They had been invited to do so by the King and Queen, PEOPLE was told.

Kate glowed in a Paul and Joe cape-style top and a regal skirt made in London from Bhutanese fabric.

The fabric for the skirt (called a Throngdrel), woven in Bhutanese tradition, was made by Kelzang Wangmo, a renowned weaver in Thimphu.

It was Kate’s suggestion to source some fabric locally and use it to make a skirt, a royal source tells PEOPLE.

William and Kate were led to the Thimphu Dzong, the Bhutanese palace, by a Chipdrel procession, a traditional Bhutanese welcoming ceremony.

Musicians and drummers lined the red carpet route across the square. Like at the airport, the red carpet had been decorated with intricate designs created from colored rice.

Just after William and Kate walked through, gusts of wind swirling around the square whipped up the carpet and tossed the rice away, but it was quickly fixed during the royal couples’ meeting.

The royal couple strolled along the carpet to their meeting with the king and queen of Bhutan. Inside, Kate curtsied and William bowed when they were introduced.

The two royal couples then emerged after about 30 minutes and walked through the courtyard and posed in front of a giant thanka, traditional tapestry. The two couples were clearly getting along.

When William and the King moved ahead, they went around a corner and paused, waiting for their dawdling wives who were deep in conversation.

After their meeting they headed to the temple where they lit butter lamps in the temple.

$25,000 replica of Grace Kelly’s wedding dress at Philadelphia University

Thanks to a fashionable collaboration between Philadelphia University and the East Falls Historical Society, we have yet another reason this spring to celebrate our city’s most beloved princess.

Contemporary wedding dresses designed by students in the exhibit at Philadelphia University. Each floor of the university’s Paul J. Gutman Library houses a slice of the sweet exhibit “The Swan: Grace Kelly and a Century of Bridal Thirteen ensembles are featured in “The Swan,” but a replica of the dreamy, lace gown Kelly wore the day she married Prince Rainier of Monaco – April 19, 1956 – is meant to be the sartorial draw.

That’s because the original gown, by MGM costume designer Helen Rose as a gift to Kelly, with its nipped-at-the-waist precision, inspired generations of women determined to live their own modern-day fairy tale.

image: http://media.philly.com/images/20160413_inq_ewgmirror13z-b.JPG

One such woman is Elizabeth Barranca – possibly Grace Kelly’s biggest fan ever, despite her Frederick County, Md., address. Barranca spent $25,000 to commission the gown that she donated to the East Falls Historical Society to celebrate what would have been the royal couple’s 60th anniversary.

“It’s a very, very, very close replica,” said Marcella Martin, curator of Philadelphia University’s textile collection. “The lace, the sleeves . . . even the undergarments on this mannequin resembles what Kelly would have worn on a special day.”

(Last year, Barranca donated dozens of Playbills, textiles, and Grace Kelly-theme dolls to the historical society. The pieces are housed in the lobby and alcove of the Falls Center on Henry Avenue.)

Kelly’s replica inspired Martin to create a show, which includes three Philadelphia University student white prom dresses uk and nine from the university’s collection. The exhibition, by the way, takes its name from Kelly’s 1956 movie about a princess who marries a prince.

Three contemporary wedding gowns by the design students – fashioned from plastic bags, hot glue, wire, and thread – greet visitors upon entering the library.

In that grouping, a long-sleeve and midriff-baring two-piece with florals fluttering about the bodice totally trashed my long-held notion that one should never wear a wedding frock fashioned from recycled material.

Fashion historians and those who love to gaze at wedding gowns will really appreciate the additional gowns Martin selected from the university’s impressive 35,000-piece collection.

The oldest among them is a silk-taffeta wedding dress with adorable capped sleeves and some major crinoline action – that looked like it would fit a 12-year-old. Martin chose this 1854 gown, a gift from the Du Pont family, to represent the extravagant yet virginal fashions popular with well-to-do brides after Queen Victoria’s wedding to Prince Albert more than a decade earlier.

The late 19th century – also referred to as the Gilded Age – was a time of loud luxe. The trends in women’s special-occasion gowns, however – big bustles, corseted waists, and luxe fabrics – stayed pretty much the same throughout that time. There is a gown from 1886 that has a padded backside and dramatic sleeves. A gown from 1892 has a similar silhouette but no bustle.

“Weddings were extravagant during this era in the decades before the wars and the Depression,” Martin said.

“The Swan” jumps to the third floor and showcases gowns illustrative of the decades: 1920s dropwaist flapper, 1930s body-skimming satins, and 1940s shoulder pads and full skirts.

“The Kelly replica represents the 1950s,” Martin said, “and that signifies a return to glamour and extravagance after the hard times.”

The exhibition closes with a 1966 two-piece wedding gown courtesy of former State Rep. Lita Indzel-Cohen.

“See the lace and the glitz in the details?” Martin asked. “It was finally OK for Americans to celebrate weddings again.”

Indeed, we haven’t stopped since.

“The Swan: Grace Kelly and a Century of Bridal Fashion”: Through June 24 at Philadelphia University, Paul J. Gutman Library, 3201 School House Lane. From 6 to 8 p.m. Thursday at the library, H. Kristina Haugland will present a lecture about the exhibit.

It was the second creepy-crawly inspired ensemble the star sported in the past week.

At Saturday night’s MTV Movie Awards Charlize wore a black lace dress with sequinned butterflies adorning her neckline.

Joining the actress on the red carpet was her co-star Chris Hemsworth and his wife Elsa Pataky.
