Top aesthetic clinic EF MEDISPA is holding its first Bridal Beauty Show on Thursday 23 February, giving brides-to-be the chance to sample high-end beauty treatments ahead of their big day.

Located on Whiteladies Road, EF MEDISPA opened its doors last year and has become a favourite of local beauty bloggers thanks to its cutting edge treatment menu.

Guests at the Bridal Beauty Show will be treated to Prosecco, canapes and luxury goody bags as well as taster treatments from beauty, skincare and cosmetics experts at the clinic. There will also be a host of local wedding suppliers offering exclusive discounts.

Keeping up with her trend of minimalistic fashion, Bollywood star Priyanka Chopra wore a Ralph Lauren sequinned gown that took 1600 hours of embroidery to make, at the recently held Golden Globe awards at Beverly Hills, California. She paired the body-fitted gilded gown with a stunning diamond neckpiece by Lorraine Schwartz.

The detailing in the garment uplifted the look to the next level and Priyanka is definitely moving in the right direction, feels designer Urvashi Kaur. “She is becoming bolder and more confident of herself in terms of her fashion choices and has a more international appeal now. I have never noticed her before when she was in India as she never challenged the prototypes earlier and was missing the fashion quotient. Now she looks more modern and on trend,” Urvashi adds.

The actress who made her international debut with Quantico last year looks sexy and elegant, says designer Rina Dhaka and adds, “To stand next to fashionista Sofia Vergara and look as hot and sexy as her, I believe Priyanka did it with utmost grace and sensuality. Also, her look is very modern elegant and the gold works well on her skin tone.”

Talking about her previous red carpet looks, Rina states, “Her previous two red carpet looks (Oscars and Emmy 2016) have been more in the lines of romantic chic, but this one is more glam yet modern simplicity. The open neck adds newness to the whole look and the straight silhouette fits perfectly well with her figure. The open hair and strong lip colour added elements to the whole look.”

Urvashi feels the prom dresses 2017 is glamorous and Priyanka looks gorgeous, but from international standards she isn’t there yet. “Priyanka is yet to get it (fashion) like Freida Pinto does but she is working her way up to it. Her fashion taste is evolving.”

Adding to the point, designer Poonam Bhagat states, “I personally did not like the whole look and believe that Priyanka could have done much better. Instead of a plunging neckline, I would have preferred a deeper back. Also, the open hair is making her look broader. With oxblood lip colour, which gives a vintage feel, a 1930’s hairstyle would have looked better, more elegant and chic on Priyanka. Though she wore a beautiful diamond neckpiece, I think a choker would have looked better as she has many lines on her neck, which needs to be covered.”

A new beauty salon has opened in downtown Rochester, and the owner is offering discounts for those who help keep the community safe.

Freedom Beauty Salon, located at 7 Hanson St., opened in December. The salon offers discounted haircuts to veterans, those in active military duty, police officers, firefighters and first-responder EMTs, said owner Jenni Olson.

Olson, of Rochester, has previously been the area manager for the Great Clips hair salon in Rochester and Concord, and has also worked at Tresses in Rochester. In opening up her own business, she wanted to offer a place that offers not just haircuts, but full beauty service including hair coloring, waxing, a nail salon and hair styling.

“I want customers to come in and be able to do it all in one facility,” said Olson.

After advice from a friend who works in real estate, she decided to open her own beauty salon.

“I decided it was time. It was now or never,” said Olson, 33.

Olson looked at several possible locations for her business, and the building at 7 Hanson St. seemed ideal.

“I fell in love with the building,” she said. “It’s an older building, I like primitive. This building has a lot of charm to me.”

The location is also desirable – the salon is located in downtown, but is tucked away from the main strip, she said.

Olson signed the three-year lease on the building in October. Although she may consider purchasing the building down the road, she will be taking her new business venture one step at a time.

Before opening, there were two months of renovations that included new flooring, repainting the walls, installing new plumbing and electrical work, and putting in the insulation in the basement.

So far, Olson has had business from many of her regular customers that she had gotten to know through her work at previous salons. Newer customers have been slower to get through the doors, and Olson hopes to see more veterans, active military members, and first-responders walk through her doors for discounted haircuts.

In a recent interview, Olson spoke about her decision to name her salon after the word “freedom.”

“‘Freedom’ came to me because I never worked at a salon where you could be who you are,” she said.

At Freedom Beauty Salon, Olson is striving to bring positive energy to her clients. She said she is an upbeat, happy person “and people feel that.”

As she spoke about her work in the beauty industry, Olson said, “It’s my passion. It’s my happy spot. I love making people feel better.”

“I want to run a salon the right way,” she said. “I want to have a positive experience, with morals that I know are true. I always want to be true to who I am and always be true to my employees.”

So far Olson has one employee, who is the lead stylist. But Olson will soon also have an apprentice and additional employees down the road, she said.

“It’s a great start. I’m more than lucky with what I have,” said Olson.

The salon also features a playroom for kids. Olson said she wants her clients to be comfortable bringing their children.

“When mothers get their haircuts the children have somewhere to go,” said Olson.

Her schedule is about to get very hectic, with the new series of Ex On The Beach hitting screens next week.

So, Jemma Lucy took a night off to catch up with her Australia-based sibling over dinner – and prove that distance has not broken their sisterly connection.

The 28-year-old reality star and her sister Lulu stepped out in matching evening dresses in alternate colours, looking closer than ever as they grabbed a bite to eat with their father at the Rosso Restaurant, in Manchester on Tuesday.

Meanwhile her sibling, who is visiting the UK from Sydney, opted for a more classic set of strappy black stiletto heels and some gold drop down earrings.

Sweeping half her hair into a high bouffant and top knot, Sydney-based Lulu showed off her clear, glowing complexion, cutting a completely different look in the frock to her tattooed sister’s edgier vibe.

Not clear whether the choice was accidental or deliberate, the sisters looked closer than ever after their catch up as they smiled at the cameras and went in for a cheeky peck, as they left the restaurant.

I love coconut oil. It’s as simple as that. It’s amazing and also healing, so if you have a breakout or if you have dry hair, it works. It’s an amazing wonder product.

Do you have a favorite drugstore beauty product?

Cetaphil. The cleanser, it’s really good. It’s drugstore, it’s cheap, it’s recommended by my dermatologist, and it’s great. Super gentle.

What beauty tip do you swear by?

Less is more.

What is your go-to nighttime routine?

When I go out, I like to put on a little bit more makeup, so I will do an eyeliner and mascara and keep the lip really simple. Then, it’s really important for me to wash it off at night to let my skin breathe during the night so, you know, do a really nice wash, maybe an exfoliation, and you’re good to go to sleep.

A West Palm Beach-based clothing company evening dresses one of the Olympic teams for the Parade of Nations Friday night.

Island Company — which has several stores, including in Palm Beach, Naples and on Grand Cayman — designed the 1930s throwback outfits worn by the Cayman Islands delegation during the Opening Ceremony of the 2016 Olympics in Brazil.

The company’s creative director, Spencer Antle, posted a photo of the team members in their outfits Friday night on his Instagram account.

According to a report from Radio Cayman, the designs are based classic outfits of working class Cayman Islands residents.

“Island Company strongly supports the Cayman Islands and for the Cayman Olympic Team to approach Island Company for this involvement is a great honor,” Antle told Radio Cayman.
