I was looking for a burning laser that was compact and that did not have a sharp point to it since I will be using it while teaching kindergarten. This pointer does the job. The pointer tip is rounded….enough to be safe, but not so much that you can’t point at finer details. I like the pocket clip as well…slides right onto my teaching notebook.

I went looking for a 200mw green laser pointer for training my dog and after reading reviews about the plastic ones breaking so easily I went searching for something sturdier. I was led to these pointers and so far so good! I haven’t used it often yet, but the telescoping works well and I’m not worried about it breaking. It is a pocket pointer so is small and pencil size which is fine for me, but anyone looking for something larger may not want to get this item.
A mechanical pointer has a few benefits:
1. It will never run out of electricity or have malfunctioning buttons.
2. It fits in your pocket like a pen would (same size)
3. It always makes an impression. People notice it(it can be used for a Laser Rifle sight ).
4. Visually speaking, it’s actually easier to follow where someone is pointing, because there’s a visual anchor point (the hand) that is tied directly to the deictic reference point (the end of the pointer). Provided you only need to point at things that are a couple feet away, this is a great solution.
