The Celebrating Celebrant of Laois!

After attending a friend’s civil wedding ceremony and seeing how poorly prepared the celebrant was, Will Flanagan decided he could do better.

“There was a definite lack of sincerity expressed by the celebrant,” Will told the Leinster Express. “She seemed disinterested and detached, like she didn’t really care. My friends deserved better!”

Originally from Derrylamogue, Co. Laois, Will decided his affable personality along with experience in acting and public speaking provided the perfect foundation for a career as a celebrant.

Wedding Celebrant Will FlanaganWill, who hails from a farm, embarked on a training course with the Irish Institute of Celebrants, where he, and fellow course mates formed Alternative Weddings Ireland, a group whose common goal is to help couples create the wedding of their dreams.

Also a teacher in Dublin, Will sailed through his assessment in January 2017 and is now an accredited celebrant. He is fully qualified to help with weddings, vow renewals, naming ceremonies and also funerals.

“If you’re looking for help with choosing the perfect readings, heartfelt vows or music that will make your wedding unforgettable, I’m here to help,” he said.

Wedding ceremonies appeal to everyone and couples like to add those special touches that make their celebration personal. This is where Will works his magic. He says he ensures that the little things that matter to a couple’s beliefs, stories and personalities, are included.

“I’ll bring sincerity, joy and humour to your wedding day. Guaranteed!” Will declared.

Those of us who are married might recall how, prior to our wedding day, discussions revolved around venues, catering, dates, rings, clothes and so on.

In all likelihood, the ‘heart and soul’ of the day, namely the celebration, was overlooked. Imagine then, having a dedicated professional like Will, whose sole task is to help you, the couple, channel energy into that one, very special aspect.

“Ireland is a magical place and there’s a whole lot of mysticism in some of the ancient rites and rituals celebrated here,” says Will. “To give you an example, we have the Celtic knot fasting ritual, which is where the term ‘tying the knot’ comes from. Imagine entwining a couple’s hands with traditional burlap and ribbons that they’ve chosen for the occasion. How romantic is that”?

Will’s parents still live on the family farm in Laois. He splits my time between there and Dublin where he works Monday – Friday as a secondary school teacher in Dalkey.

Butch arrested, Maci’s wedding, Farrah meets Debra’s fiance and more!

This Monday is the Teen Mom OG Season 6 finale, and judging from this week’s preview clips, the episode will not disappoint! Tyler Baltierra’s dad Butch finds himself back behind bars again, Farrah Abraham finally meets her mom Debra’s doctor fiance, Amber Portwood gets nervous about her upcoming “mommy makeover” surgery, and of course — MACI’S WEDDING!!!We’ll kick things of with a little “bad news, good news” video. The bad news is that Tyler’s dad Butch Baltierra gets arrested yet again after being out of prison and sober for more than a year. You’ll have to wait for the good news…

The good news is that Tyler says Butch’s arrest was only for missing a parole meeting. Tyler goes on to say that he isn’t sure exactly what happened, which might explain why Butch was actually charged with driving on a suspended license. (You can read more about his arrest here.) Either way, as far as Butch Baltierra arrests go, this one is waaaaaaay down on the concerning scale!Next up we have one of reality TV’s most contentious mother/daughter relationships featured yet again as Farrah Abraham is introduced to her future stepdad, Dr. David Merz — who apparently has no problem being completely honest and to the point:

After Farrah and Dr. David awkwardly hug and have a seat, Simon Saran kicks things off by giving David a pseudo-backhanded compliment. “I gotta definitely say…I think you bring out the best in Debra. She’s like nice and calm and less tense.”“No,” Debra’s fiance responds. “I don’t bring the best out in her — she’s always the best.”“Ah, there you go,” says Simon.David then reveals he is no stranger to Teen Mom and he is not a fan of how Farrah treats Debra on the show. “She’s been through a bunch of s***, and she gets all this stuff thrown at her. I’ve watched Teen Mom,” he continues. “It hurts me because I know her and GRRR GRRR! Why are they doing that to her? You know, beating her up?”Farrah seems perplexed about what David is suggesting. “What do you mean in regards to beating who up, or what up, or down up, or where what?”

After Amber expresses her anxiousness, the video then shifts to “home video” footage of Amber after the procedure as she struggles to walk around the hospital. We then see Matt at home the next day talking to his cousin on the phone. Matt says that Amber’s recovery has been harder than they expected, adding that she has been laid up in bed. Then, the conversation turns to Matt’s book.

(It seems odd to me that MTV keeps filming scenes with Amber and Matt sitting in fold-up lawn chairs in the garage — what’s that about? Plus, I noticed that Matt was wearing a ring on his left ring finger. Is that something new? To answer my own question I looked back at some older videos and it appears that he has been wearing it for most of the season. He didn’t have it on at the tattoo parlor, but I spotted it in pretty much every episode after.)

BLACK-EYED PEA CLOSURE CAUSES PROBLEMS FOR COUPLE’S WEDDING

Jason Collier is a frustrated groom.

“I paid all this money for a beautiful wedding, and to give my fiance a dream wedding,” said the real estate professional. But, he added: “We don’t have food!”

When Collier made a surprise proposal to his fiance Ashley Landry at the school where she is a teacher, he promised her the perfect wedding.

The young couple picked the Humble Civic Center as the wedding location with October 8, as the wedding date. They signed a contract with Black-eyed Pea to be the caterer.

Everything was going well, until Tuesday, when the restaurant’s catering manager called. “They never said anything, never said the company filed bankruptcy a year ago,” said Landry. She can’t believe no one on the restaurant staff ever told her the company was having financial problems. “(Nobody said) it could be a possibility, that we may not be able to cater your wedding, and they called me yesterday and said they can’t.”

On Monday, all but one of the Black-eyed Pea Texas restaurants shut down, abruptly. No warning.

Just a note on the door. Landry and collier already paid the full $2,700 catering bill. They were told there would be no refund — and no catering.

“We got to figure something out,” said Landry. “It was supposed to be a dream wedding.”

“And we both sacrificed a lot,” said Collier, adding they worked extra hours and saved to pay for the wedding.

Our calls to the corporate headquarters went to voice mail. Landry and Collier say they don’t know what to do. Their first preference would be for the contract to be honored, since their wedding is 10 days away. In the meantime, they are working to find a caterer who would charge them a reasonable price and still be available on short notice.

But they take comfort in knowing one thing, with or without a caterer. “The ultimate thing is about us, sharing that moment, confessing our love to each other and wanting to spend our lives together,” said Collier.

He and Landry vow not to let the catering snafu stop their big day.
