The remainder is for software copyrights, database updates, and channel profits. A dual-screen “PFD+MFD” general aviation glass instrument kit costs $20,000–$40,000, about three times the price of traditional mechanical instruments, but it reduces weight by 5–8 kg and can reduce maintenance costs by more than 30% over five years.
