6 thoughts every woman has when she gets waxed

Beauty-woman-THS

(Photo:MarieProm UK)Getting yourself waxed is like eating spinach. You do not always like it, but the results are amazing. While you cringe in the salon, thinking that there is nothing remotely enjoyable a lot of other things cross your mind. Can you relate to these?

1. You convince yourself that the first few times she pulls the hair out is going to be painful and that you are going to be immune to it after some time. You may think that you can even listen to some music or take a phone call. However, in the end, you realise that each trip is just as painful as the last.

2. And sometimes when you go pretty long between your waxing schedules because it was winter or you did not have the budget, you feel like you are the hairiest person on earth. You just feel too awkward even to open your pants and lay out your legs for a wax. And if there is somebody else in the room apart from the professional, you know that you just won’t do it. Here are a few tips to soothe irritated skin after waxing.

3. And then lying on your back with your knees apart is not so comfortable as well. While it could be a romantic one when you are with your partner, but just the thought that you will have that molten lava in your body makes you feel horrible.

4. You think that since you are paying a bomb, no hair should be spared especially when you are doing chocolate wax. You think you should just carry a microscope the next time to the salon to ensure that there is no ounce of hair left on your body and your skin feels nothing less than velvet.

5. Even though waxing takes just 20 minutes, you feel that it is the longest beauty ritual of all time. It is like that never-ending, long, journey you wish just ends.

6. And if you have done a bikini wax and see a bright red skin in the sensitive area down there, the only thing you wonder is why you ever made the decision. You think you could have done without getting the bushes removed.Read more at:evening dresses

5 ways make your beauty routine eco-friendly

How to make your beauty routine more eco friendly

(Photo:prom dress shops)Ethical beauty isn’t a new concept, but many of us don’t know where to start when it comes to being more eco-friendly.

One way you can contribute is by giving your beauty routine an overhaul. There are some simple yet effective ways that you can make your regime a little more environmentally friendly

1. Ban the beads

Greenpeace demanded a ban on all plastic microbeads last September because of the alarming amounts of pollution they are causing to our oceans. Plastic microbeads were often found in many budget high street shower gels, scrubs and exfoliators. These tiny plastic microbeads are not only harmful if caught in your eye but they are also poisonous to fish and marine wildlife.

To help the environment, use natural exfoliators instead. Look for ones that use sugar, walnut or coffee.

2. Pass on the palm oil

Palm oil or vegetable oil as it is also widely known is found in many beauty products from shampoos to lipsticks.

This natural ingredient may seem innocent but in fact the extraction and production of palm oil is contributing to mass deforestation in Eastern Asia. This in turn has resulted in devastating loss of life of orangutans and tigers with the threat of their extinction ever paramount. Odylique is ranked as one of the top three skincare brands that chooses not to use palm oil in their skincare or cosmetics, alongside Dr Hauschka and Lush

3. Mind the packaging

Buying from brands that use recyclable and sustainable packaging is another way you can reduce the damage you could do to the planet. There is a growing trend for brands to use biodegradable packaging that is less harmful to the environment.

4. Go organic

It goes without saying but natural and organic ingredients are the gentlest to incorporate in your daily skincare routine. The damage to your health and wellbeing of using a cocktail of artificial ingredients which are commonly used in mainstream beauty products – has yet to be fully understood. Using natural ingredients is literally picking the wholesome bounty of Mother Nature and applying it to your skin, without being concocted artificially in a lab using a variation of parabens and preservatives.

Odylique’s Co-Founder, Margaret Weeds comments: “Much of what we apply to our skin is absorbed into the body so it makes sense to cut down on your toxic load and ‘feed’ your skin with wholesome organic ingredients.

“Buying organic encourages more plants to be grown organically which is better for the environment: fewer pesticides and herbicides and greater biodiversity.”

5. Save water where you can

We are all told to keep our showers below five minutes and limit the amount of water we use in our baths. Try turning the shower off while you lather up or switch to having a shower rather than a bath a few times a week.Read more at:MarieProm UK

Foreigner wedding bells toll for Thai destinations

SEVENTY-THREE buyers from 15 countries met with 116 local operators last week, promoting wedding business with the goal of making Thailand one of the top global destinations for the sector.

The Tourism Authority of Thailand held “Amazing Thailand Romance Trade Meets” events in Bangkok and Krabi from May 11-13, in order to promote the country as a truly major destination for wedding and honeymoon couples, said Juthaporn Rerngronasa, TAT’s deputy governor for International Marketing (Europe, Africa, Middle East and Americas). The Kingdom already ranks as a top-six global market for weddings and honeymoons, as well as being the most popular destination for such business in Asia, and an emerging destination among the Middle Eastern and African markets, she said.

“This year, there is a strong record for selling weddings and honeymoons from major source markets such as the United States, Canada, Brazil, Argentina, Chile, France, the United Arab Emirates, Australia, China, Hong Kong, Taiwan, Japan, South Korea, Malaysia and Indonesia,” she added.

Representatives from these markets last week joined networking and business sessions with 64 local sellers at the Bangkok event, representing hotels, resorts, destination management companies and event planners based in Thailand.

At the Krabi event, held two days later, they met Thai sellers from 52 companies – mainly resorts in the South. Operators focusing on the Indian market were not at the events because they had their own agenda and plans, Juthaporn said.

Weddings and honeymoons are billion-dollar earners for Asia’s tourism industry, and Thailand is emerging as one of the region’s top spots for tying the knot, she said.

According to the TAT, wedding business worldwide is valued US$298 billion (Bt10.56 trillion), with $80 billion coming from overseas weddings. Amnart Laosirimongkol, director of operations at the Nakamanda Resort and Spa Krabi, said the property was built 13 years ago specifically to cater to weddings and honeymoons.

The 39-villa resort operates at a 70-per-cent average occupancy rate, mostly accounted for by couples from the UK, Italy, France, Germany and Asian markets.

Darunee Narkprasert, director of sales and marketing at the Aonang Cliff Beach in Krabi, said the resort planned to open more 14 villas next year to serve higher demand for weddings. After the new villas are opened, it expects to increase the revenue proportion of wedding and honeymoon business from the current level of 10 per cent.

Rong Phukaoluan, president of the Krabi Hotel Association, said Krabi had become a crowded destination due a large increase in the number of visitors travelling to the province.

Krabi Airport’s expansion plan is however scheduled to be completed by 2019, doubling the current capacity of 4.5 million arrivals per year.

Currently, domestic and international airlines operate a total of 30 flights per day to the province, including charter flights. By end of the year, Qatar Airways will operate a direct service from Doha to Krabi, with four flights a week.

South Korea’s Asiana Airlines wants to add Krabi as a new destination, but is unable to do so right now due to the airport’s limited capacity, Rong said.

How mommyhood changes a woman

Becoming a mother is one of those experiences that changes a woman forever — and not just physically. These alterations are subtly visible in the way her personality undergoes a makeover once she gives birth and becomes engrossed in rearing her child. There are psychological, physiological and emotional changes, most of which are for the better — thereby elevating this phase in a woman’s life to be one of the epitomes of her existence.

The deeply satisfying phase enriches her

Motherhood is demanding, however, at the same time, it is deeply satisfying too and this contentment enriches the mother to a large extent. Weight management and Ayurveda professional Dr Amrapali Patil says, “A mother instinctively knows that she is a special creation because she alone has been given the power to bring forth another human life and this builds up her resilience, character, strength, happiness, confidence, faith, love — all these characteristics reflect externally, making the mother look more charming and charismatic.”

Hormones play their magic and enhances her beauty

A new mom -to-be’s body is flooded with pregnancy-related hormones, say doctors. These tend to add a lovely glow to the skin, which make her appear radiant and fresh. The quality of her hair also improves, and hair fall reduces due to these hormones, say experts. The body develops soft curves and the breasts look fuller. Cosmetologist Dr Jaishree Manchanda says, “A woman’s blood flow changes during pregnancy. This increased blood flow happens in order to help nourish the growing baby, but by a happy accident, it can make a woman look gorgeous and radiant too. So, once a woman is pregnant, her skin glows with an unmistakable radiance.”

Motherhood becomes a source of strength

Being a mother requires strength and the process of going into labour and delivering a baby requires a woman to have faith and vanquish fear. Patil says, “This enhances her confidence further (a concept referred to as the Aishwarya Bhava in Maharishi Patanjali and Ashthanga Yoga). This adds to her internal stamina to take on life and manifests externally as enhanced body confidence.” And one of the best things that a woman can wear is her confidence.

The immense power of pure love becomes a reality

Becoming a mother increases a woman’s ability to love by many folds. Patil adds, “Love is a very powerful emotion and tends to make the facial features become tender, soft and less fierce. Such a face is more joyful, appealing and attractive.”

Tips a mother can follow to enhance her beauty

Though one day in the year is not enough to celebrate motherhood, at least on Mother’s Day, many acknowledge the mother who is invariably taken for granted on all other days. Mothers need to take care of themselves — their hair, skin etc and Dr Manchanda gives us tips…

Princess Kate and Prince William have met the “Will and Kate of the Himalayas” – King Jigme and Queen Jetsun of Bhutan.

The young British royals met the Dragon King, 36, and the Dragon Queen, 25 – who both studied in England before ascending to the throne in the small Himalayan nation. Will and Kate arrived in Bhutan after making a dramatic landing from the cockpit. They had been invited to do so by the King and Queen, PEOPLE was told.

Kate glowed in a Paul and Joe cape-style top and a regal skirt made in London from Bhutanese fabric.

The fabric for the skirt (called a Throngdrel), woven in Bhutanese tradition, was made by Kelzang Wangmo, a renowned weaver in Thimphu.

It was Kate’s suggestion to source some fabric locally and use it to make a skirt, a royal source tells PEOPLE.

William and Kate were led to the Thimphu Dzong, the Bhutanese palace, by a Chipdrel procession, a traditional Bhutanese welcoming ceremony.

Musicians and drummers lined the red carpet route across the square. Like at the airport, the red carpet had been decorated with intricate designs created from colored rice.

Just after William and Kate walked through, gusts of wind swirling around the square whipped up the carpet and tossed the rice away, but it was quickly fixed during the royal couples’ meeting.

The royal couple strolled along the carpet to their meeting with the king and queen of Bhutan. Inside, Kate curtsied and William bowed when they were introduced.

The two royal couples then emerged after about 30 minutes and walked through the courtyard and posed in front of a giant thanka, traditional tapestry. The two couples were clearly getting along.

When William and the King moved ahead, they went around a corner and paused, waiting for their dawdling wives who were deep in conversation.

After their meeting they headed to the temple where they lit butter lamps in the temple.

Social Media & Self Esteem: How To Build Confidence And Love Your Looks Part 2

Psychologists use the term “body image” to describe our internalized sense of what we look like. This can be thought of as a mental representation or map of our body, held against what we judge as our external appearance. For most of us, there is a relatively good match between what we think we look like and how we appear to other people.

But with the rise of social media and the phenomena of the selfie, Dr. Sanam Hafeez, a Manhattan-based neuropsychologist, says it can be harder to maintain a positive body image these days. “To some extent our body image is idealized, based on how we would like to look. It is also based on a mirror image of our actual appearance,” she explained. Other people see animated or moving images, whereas we view our own image mainly through photographs or mirrors where our expression is still. Dr. Hafeez totally gets the perils that women can fall into in on Instagram, Facebook and other social media platforms. Check out her tips from Dr. Hafeez on how to love and accept yourself more.

Focus on what you have the power to change. Rather than spending your energy on wishing you were taller, redirect your focus on something you can change, like toning up with a yoga or Pilates class, or honing one of your talents. Then celebrate with a new handbag.

Surround yourself with beauty. Creating a beautiful environment at home or in your workspace will provide a greater sensual experience, which is what we all crave. Keep fresh flowers on your desk or table, add some silk pillows to your sofa, play your favorite music while cooking dinner, and drink mineral water out of a nice wine glass!!

Ask for help if you need it. Surround yourself with positive people who lift you up and who contribute to your happiness and look to them when you falter in your goals. Whether you need help sticking to a healthy eating plan, a buddy to workout with, a personal trainer to show you how to do the exercise that is right for you or someone to discuss emotional issues with — never be afraid to ask.
