This wedding ceremony will steal your heart

Close your eyes and imagine what your fairytale wedding ceremony looks like. Most of us would imagine a certain amount of pageantry ceremonial riches that tug at the hearts of all in attendance, and of course from the bride and groom. Not everyone envisions the same kind of wedding, ceremony, though. But it would take some convincing to believe that not every person who marries wishes for the kind of love shared between these two amazing people, Mara & Elo.

The uniqueness of the depth of their love is not masked. Sure, there’s the visible difference in their physical appearance, but that is not an issue for them. Elo is a little person with a big heart. Mara embodies a soul that is so beautiful and nurturing you can almost see it. Truly, however, it’s their tenderness and selfless caring for each other that shines above all else. When you watch this video, you will feel that as the two recite their vows.

During the wedding ceremony, Mara spoke to Elo, “I will love you, forever as the day more. Nothing is more important to me than our love for each other. And I feel so blessed and grateful, that you loved me despite my imperfections, always seeing the gold in me even if I reflect silver. I believe I’m the helpmate God’s design especially for you. And I promise to be the arms that you need to reach your star and the legs that you need to take too big steps. My arms and legs are made to be the extension of yours.”

True love is real, my friends. And so are endings that begin with “happy ever afters.”

Vogue Italia editor Franca Sozzani’s mass draws designers, fashion executives

Franca Sozzani could always command a gathering of industry insiders — any day, any time. The same happened on Monday when a mass was held at the tail end of Milan Fashion Week to remember the late editor in chief of Vogue Italia, who died in December.

It’s probably easier to say who was not at Milan’s gothic Duomo cathedral. Police set up barriers to control access to the church while crowds of curious onlookers clustered around — iPhones handy and ready for selfies. There were institutional personalities, ranging from former Prime Minister Matteo Renzi and the city’s mayor Giuseppe Sala to Ivan Scalfarotto, deputy minister for economic development, as well as Carlo Capasa, president of the Italian Chamber of Fashion, and Beppe Modenese and Mario Boselli, both honorary presidents.

Giorgio Armani; Miuccia Prada and her husband Patrizio Bertelli; Alberta Ferretti and her brother Massimo; Silvia Venturini Fendi and Carla Fendi; Anna Molinari; Dean and Dan Caten; Veronica and Gimmo Etro; Antonio Berardi; Luisa Beccaria; Bruno Frisoni, and Cesare Paciotti were among some of the Italian designers. Donatella Versace arrived arm-in arm with Naomi Campbell.

His design heirs, Pierpaolo Piccioli and Maria Grazia Chiuri, who is now at Christian Dior and was accompanied by Sidney Toledano, were also in attendance. Piccioli said the memorial signaled “a recognition” of Sozzani’s stature. “She was a true friend for me,” he said.

“We called her bambolina [‘little doll’ in Italian],” said Rosita Missoni. “When we were abroad together, all of us Italians would cozy up. She seemed all delicate, but she was determined and had an extraordinary energy.”

Her daughter, Angela Missoni, agreed. “She blended strength and lightness, and she had a big sense of humor. She was always willing to help, incredibly open to listening to others.”

British designers were represented by Burberry’s Christopher Bailey; Alexander McQueen’s Sarah Burton; Stella McCartney; Victoria Beckham, and Stephen Jones. Bailey said the ceremony was “moving. It was about friends sharing personal stories about a person we all admired and respected.” Artist Daphne Guinness also attended the event, as did Emanuele Filiberto di Savoia.

Asked to share a memory, Alber Elbaz kindly said: “Not today, please.” Bruce Weber also struggled to speak. “I miss her too much, I can’t.”

“I’m so grateful for having known her and for her belief in fashion and in myself. She was a great woman and the amount of people here today proves this,” offered Peter Dundas.

“She was divine,” said Manolo Blahnik. “She deserved to be remembered today.” One of Sozzani’s best pieces of advice? “Be yourself and do the things you like and want to do.”

Matteo Marzotto felt the memorial was very “respectful, with the choir and the Duomo — she would have adored it.” Industry executives and entrepreneurs such as François-Henri Pinault; Diego and Andrea Della Valle; Laudomia Pucci; Paolo Zegna; Valentino’s chief executive officer Stefano Sassi; Ferruccio Ferragamo, with his sister Fulvia, as well as Lapo Elkann, Gaetano Marzotto and Santo Versace were also there.

“I’ve so many memories of Franca, but if I have to choose one, I think the event she organized for the Vogue Fashion Dubai Experience in 2015 where I sang on the stage was great,” said Carla Bruni, who was among the models attending the memorial. Others included Kate Moss, who arrived with Stefano Pilati; Eva Herzigová; Mariacarla Boscono; Liya Kebede, and Anna Cleveland. Sozzani championed photography, and a group of her closest collaborators, ranging from Mario Testino and Mario Sorrenti to Giovanni Gastel, paid their respects.

The Duomo’s archpriest Gianantonio Borgonovo touched on Sozzani’s charitable efforts and how she set up Convivio in 1991 to support the fight against AIDS and Orphan Aid in 2001. “We don’t stop at the facade of a well-built building, but we unearth the foundations,” said Borgonovo of Sozzani’s interests that were close to her heart.

While there were no speeches, Sozzani’s sister Carla, who was accompanied by Kris Ruhs and her longtime friend Azzedine Alaïa, chose the readings, delivered by her daughter, Sara Maino, and Franca’s son, Francesco Carrozzini. Carrozzini was accompanied by his girlfriend, Bee Shaffer, and her mother Anna Wintour, as well as Jonathan Newhouse, chairman and ceo of Condé Nast International.

EVERYTHING in barely there dress after wild night at The BRIT Awards

Thankfully her new boyfriend Alex Oxlade Chamberlain was on hand to help her into the waiting vehicle.

The 23-year-old singer, who had been celebrating Little Mix’s first ever BRIT Award win until 3am, wore a revealing black cocktail dresses open entirely on her right side.

Perrie Edwards wore a very revealing dress cut down one sideHer outfit, complete with one shoulder pad, was pulled together with gold and black buckles.

She wore a pair of heeled black sandals to accentuate her long legs even more.

Perrie grinned as she made her way to the taxi, hair pulled up into a high bun as she put a hand on her skirt to make sure that it didn’t ride up any further.

Her footballer ace beau placed a hand on the small of her back as he guided her into the taxi.

The Sun first revealed that Alex and Perrie were dating back in November after she split from Luke Pasqualino.

The Little Mix star went public with her new romance last month by sharing a picture of the Arsenal player sitting with her beloved dogs.

But just weeks later, fans began speculating about a split when the snap disappeared from Perrie’s Instagram page.

But earlier this month she proved their romance was still going strong by sharing a snap of them kissing in front of The Eiffel Tower.

Who might dress new first lady Melania Trump on Inauguration Day?

Fashion arbiters the world over will be scrutinising the outfit Melania Trump wears on Friday, January 20 at the inauguration of her husband, US president-elect Donald Trump.

If history is anything to go by, the first-lady-in-waiting’s ensemble for the Inaugural Ball will be in a shade of red, white or blue, reflecting the American flag.

In keeping with tradition, an American designer will almost certainly purple prom dresses Trump, and Zac Posen (who has dressed Michelle Obama, Uma Thurman and Rihanna, among others) is a front-runner.

There are many big names, however, who are not so keen to be considered, including Marc Jacobs, who is no fan of Trump’s husband. Tom Ford has also said she should not choose his collections, because they are not made in the United States but in Italy. He added that a first lady should wear clothes “at a price point that is accessible to most Americans”.

Another dissenting voice is Sophie Theallet, whose independent label has dressed Michelle Obama since President Obama entered office in 2009.

“As one who celebrates and strives for diversity, individual freedom, and respect for all lifestyles, I will not participate in dressing or associating in any way with the next first lady,” says Theallet. “I encourage my fellow designers to do the same.”

Designers from the Middle East have rarely featured in the wardrobe of previous first ladies. “Fashion is boundless and it shouldn’t have political affiliations, nor should it discriminate,” says Dubai-based couturier to the rich and famous, Michael Cinco.

“It would be an honour and a pleasure to dress the incoming first lady. She has vowed to strengthen her advocacy for the welfare of women and children, and she’s a woman of intelligence and beauty – and at 5’11″ [180cm], one of the tallest first ladies. So, I would certainly love to purple prom dress her.”

In exchange for a first lady wearing their pieces, designers are likely to receive worldwide media coverage rather than the hundreds of thousands of dirhams the couture itself might cost.

The White House remains stubbornly tight lipped about how the first lady’s vast wardrobe is obtained, but it is believed most outfits for major events are either “donated” or borrowed.

For the other, day-to-day outfits, despite having no clothing allowance or a salary, some first ladies choose to pay for them, albeit for a nominal fee.

“Mrs Obama pays for her clothing,” says Joanna Rosholm, Michelle Obama’s press secretary.

“For official events of public or historic significance, such as a state visit, the first lady’s clothes may be given as a gift by a designer and accepted on behalf of the US government. They are then stored by the National Archives.”

How Christian Siriano Won the Hearts of Celebs and Shoppers Everywhere

This past July, Leslie Jones was preparing to make the leap from Saturday Night Live cast member to legit movie actress, costarring alongside comedy’s biggest names in the hotly anticipated Ghostbusters. Jones should have been elated. Instead, she was stressed out. Not only was she under a daily siege of highly pub- licized, baldly racist attacks by social media trolls, but about two weeks before the movie’s premiere—the single most photographed night of her career—she had nothing to wear, and no prospects in sight. In desperation and disgust, Jones took to Twitter, calling out designers for not offering to help. Surfing above the hate mail came a reply: two “waving hand” emojis from Christian Siriano—his way of saying, “Come over here, girl. I’d love to celebrity dresses you.” (Her response: “yaaaaaassssss.”) At the premiere, Jones stepped onto the ectoplasm-green carpet in a regal, off-the-shoulder red Siriano. The designer Instagrammed her photo with the hashtag #prettywoman. Jones raves, “We are now friends for life! I love this man. He saw the beauty in me, in every woman.”

Fourteen days later, at the Democratic National Convention, Michelle Obama—the best thing to happen to American fashion since the Singer sewing machine—strode onstage to de- liver the most stirring speech of her political life in a simple, cobalt-blue full-skirted dress. Its designer? Christian Siriano.

Finally. It has taken nine long years for the arbiters of fashion to give in to the indisputable reality that Christian Siriano—the hair-gelled, finger-snapping alum not of Parsons or FIT but of Project Runway, season four—has the talent, focus, and obviously the perseverance to be a viable and, for a rapidly growing circle of wom- en, welcome force in American fashion.

It’s not as if Siriano has lacked for recognition. But fame, especially for a reality TV star, does not equal respect (see: Kardashians, Hiltons, Bachelorettes, et al.), and in an industry in which sharp- eyed insiders often compete for the self-satisfaction of anointing unknown talent, Siriano’s instant, unmistakably mass appeal following his Runway win was long cause for disdain. You can’t claim credit for “discovering” someone millions of viewers already chose. It didn’t help that the show’s sly editing had shaped Siriano into a cartoonish persona complete with crowd-pleasing catch-phrases like “Fierce!” and “Hot tranny mess!” (Runway host Tim Gunn nicknamed him “Woody Woodpecker.”)

Siriano grew up in Annapolis, Maryland, the son of two teachers who divorced when he was five. He loved musical theater, and studied ballet alongside his older sister until he became more taken with the costumes than dance itself. By age 13, he was designing clothes, a passion that intensified in high school at Baltimore School of the Arts. After being rejected by FIT, he moved to London, earning a degree in fashion design at American InterContinental University while interning at Vivienne Westwood and Alexander McQueen. In New York after graduation, he made wedding red carpet dresses for private clients and briefly interned at Marc Jacobs. A friend told him about Runway. “I figured, I had no money; I just needed a job, so why not audition?,” he says. “People did warn me about the stigma attached to reality shows, but winning got me on Oprah, and Amy Poehler played me on Saturday Night Live. That was fun. But I also realized quickly that this wouldn’t last, so I decided early on to figure this thing out for myself.”

When Siriano, then 21, “walked in to audition, my first reaction was, ‘He’s just out of design school, not fully baked, so why are we seeing him?’ ” Gunn recalls. “He was in the room for half a minute when I turned to the judges and said, ‘I’ve been teaching for 30 years and have never met a fashion prodigy until today.’ If I had any worries, it was that Christian came equipped with such confidence he could have turned into an egomaniacal diva.” On that count, Gunn is “delighted but not surprised to be wrong.”

At Siriano’s no-nonsense, sketch-lined workrooms in New York City’s Chelsea, the designs-in-progress are neither directional nor needle-moving. But what they lack in editorial urgency is made up for in an effusive love of color, an obsessive workmanship, and a knack for the kind of camera-ready glamour that elevated Grace Kelly to a screen goddess—all in line with the designer’s ultimate goal of, as he puts it, becoming someone “all women can trust in when they want to be beautiful.” Recent red-carpet arrivals indicate that stars as varied as Jennifer Lopez, Kerry Washington, Lady Gaga, Coco Rocha, Ariana Grande, Tina Fey, Shailene Woodley, Sia, and Angela Bassett are believers. As are Neiman Marcus shoppers, who snap up his petal-appliquéd and floral-printed gowns for $3,000-plus.

Kim Kardashian debuts a LIP RING as she returns to public eye after 3 months away

Kim Kardashian has made a stunning return to the public eye – by going all-out to make an entrance at her family’s glamorous Christmas Eve party.

Wearing a plunging gold cocktail dresses and a statement black and gold choker necklace, Kim appeared to be back to her old self as she blew kisses on sister Khloe Kardashian’s Snapchat.

She even wore a lip ring as she showed off her toned body and looked even slimmer after 12 weeks out of the spotlight.

“Look who it is in the house, Mrs West in the building!” exclaimed Khloe as she panned her camera over Kim.

“How to-die – how dope is my f***ing sister? Look at this dress, look at the jewellery. You are a bad-ass bitch, Kim.”

Last night’s party in LA marks a turning point in Kim’s recovery from her armed robbery in Paris back at the start of October. Since then she’s been keeping a low profile, only wearing dark clothes and minimal makeup on the rare occasions she’s left her home.

There was no sign of Kanye West at the swanky do, although their three-year-old daughter North West was there, dressed to the nines in a designer dress.

“Look at Northie in her little Alexander Wang custom cocktail dresses uk, she loves it,” said Kim as she took over Khloe’s Snapchat. “Llook at Koko. Woahoo!”

Kim wasn’t wearing her wedding ring either, despite being seen with it on just last week as she and Kanye went on a date to a restaurant in Santa Monica – a date that was quickly branded ‘fake’ by cynics.

Kim posed with Khloe, Kourtney and little sisters Kendall and Kylie Jenner, along with Kris and Caitlyn, at the bash, which had performances from John Legend inside an opulently decorated venue.

The Kardashians even welcomed Scott Disick back into the fold, with Kylie captioning a Snapchat of him being hugged by Khloe as “family forever”.

He didn’t appear to be drinking at the event, although it’s not known yet whether he’s given up alcohol in order to deal with his issues around it.

Kylie, wearing a skin-tight black sequinned catsuit, was all over boyfriend Tyga, who wore a fairly unfestive tracksuit to the ‘do.

Earlier, the pair had exchanged Christmas presents – Kylie got a diamond necklace that looked a lot like momager Kris’s… maybe Tyga had found a 2-for-1 deal?

But she seemed delighted with the blingy jewellery, putting it on straightaway and throwing her arms around Tyga as they kissed in front of her family.

It seems that the family might be moving on from their recent troubles, which included Kanye being hospitalised for a suspected breakdown and Kourtney and Scott breaking up – this time ‘for good’.
