楽天オープンの予選初日に行ってきました。
出場選手について今年もとやかく言われてますがティアフォー、チチパスといった期待の若手がいて昨年と比べるとフレッシュさがある気がします。
今年もブース設営完了前に到着してしまった。
こっちもプロの試合並みに楽しみなんです。
真っ先にトアルソン／ローチェブースに行ってでウェアをついつい購入。
プリンスブースでは昨年に引き続きスピードガン付きの試打コーナーがありました。
せっかくなのでビーストのＯ３タイプとトラディッショナルタイプを試打。
他メーカーの例に漏れず球持ち重視のモデル、ビーストＯ３の持ち感は特に引っ付くなと思いました。
Ｏ３のフィーリングをそのままの引っ付き加減、ストリングが試打用とはいえもしかしたらTX222Pより上かも？
いいねトワロン搭載NewＯ３、グラファイトで出ないかなぁ！
ウィルソンブースではデカラケでのボレーボレーコーナーがあったのでトライしてみましたが、ボレーが全部サイドアウトへ逸れて相手役スタッフさんを壁際に追いやってしまう痛恨のミスをしでかす。
試合は12:00からのティアフォー対上杉選手を観戦。
ズベレフを倒し、レーバーカップにも選出された期待の１９歳ティアフォー。
ティアフォーは上杉選手と比べるとデカくて威圧感がある。(大抵の日本人と比べたらそりゃそうか)
勝手なイメージだけど体格にしては思ったよりパワープレイは少ないように見えました。
フォアは手ブラブラで妙なテイクバックからスピン系のボール。
キリオスの時も思いましたが打ちやすい打ち方が一番なのね。
特にフォアの鋭角なクロスへのショットがカウンター気味に決まっていた印象。
上杉選手のショットを力技と言うよりあっさりと凄いコースへ返されてしまう。
コート後方の上の席から見ていたからあまりスピンの跳ね方が分かりませんでしたが、一見そこまで圧倒的なスピードのストロークじゃないにしても相当スピンが凄いのか、上杉選手がラリーで押される場面が多かったです。
スピードで振り払うより左右に動かされる展開も見受けられ、上杉選手が消耗させられボールが段々弱くなっているようにも見えました。
例によってサーブもファーストで190km/h～210km/h台でビシバシキープしてくる。
ただその一方でセカンドは思ったよりゆったりと見え、上杉選手はそこから攻めて反撃をしていました。
ストロークの方もティアフォーは途中で安定しなくなる、流れの悪い場面があり、そこで上杉選手が劣勢からビシバシとストロークでエースを決めて肉薄していく姿は本当に格好良かった。
大学テニス部の上杉選手は動画では見た事ありましたが生観戦は初めて。
動画以上に逆クロスが格好良い。
１ポイント目から見事な逆クロスを決めてみせたし、パワーもランクも上の大物相手に劣勢でも臆せず攻めていく。
力技ではなく総合的な攻撃力と言うのか、ストロークだけでなくネットに出る回数も多く、攻撃のバリエーションの多い華のあるテニスだった。
自分が好きな選手で杉田さんは昔生で見たイメージだとややストローク偏重、キリオスは何を起こすのか予測不可能(笑)、その中で上杉さんのプレーは何だろうな、より心を惹かれる。
大学生ではあるが卒業後はプロで戦うのだろうか。
強くなりたきゃ即刻海外！って風潮の時代ですがどこまで戦えるだろうか。
ティアフォー対上杉選手を丸々見た後、チチパス対伊藤選手の試合を少しだけ観戦。
19歳で117位のチチパスはティアフォーより身長が高く、やや細身。
身長が高いことだけあってサーブが強烈。
ストロークは伸びがあるしシングルハンドのバックは結構派手に振り抜く。
ぱっと見のスピード感だけならティアフォーより上に思える。
が、自分が見たのが数ゲームだけだったのでよく見る事はできなかったのですが、伊藤選手との試合でのプレーはシンプルな打ち合いだったような気がする。
伊藤選手の出足がちょっとミスが多く怪しかったので、その後第一セットを伊藤選手が取ったと聞いて少し驚きました。
チチパスのストロークは伊藤選手より威力があるように見えましたが、やっぱり凄い伊藤選手。
厚い当たりでボールをぶっ叩くフォアハンド、これも僕は好きです。
チチパス対伊藤選手から離れてちょっとだけ練習コートに寄るとシャポバロフ選手。
大会棄権になったのにわざわざこんなにギャラリーが多い場所で練習してくれる。
荷物がベンチではなくコートの隅に置かれて休憩もそこに固まってやっていた。
まあこれだけ人だかりができていたら遠いところで休憩したいだろうと思うけど、よく考えたらベンチから離れて休憩する選手今まで自分は意外と見なかった。
その後、楽天オープンを離れて千葉県へ。
丁度良いタイミングだと思ったのでＳマッハ３本の調整依頼の為、ラケットスタジオさんへ。
でも有明から１時間半以上って、僕の脳内では大した事無い距離だなと思ってたのですが大はずれで参った参った。
陸続きなのにまさかこんなに遠かったとは(1度来てるだろ)
当初の訪問理由はスペック合わせの為に元の１本を計ってもらってそれは持ち帰り、残り２本を合わせて貰うという狙いでした。
が、元グリをレザーに変えて手首が痛いなと思ったのでそこも相談した結果、スペック合わせからＳマッハが事実上の強化型へのチューニングに。
テニスショップとしてこの発想は反則的よねもう。
前回の訪問以来TX222Pが手に入る度にラケットを送ってチューニングして貰っていましたが、今回はラケットも変わりまた直接訪問。
やはりテニスショップとは実際に伺ってなんぼである。
会わなきゃ分からない事、見つからない事があるのだ。
