ウィニングショットのタフドライを初めて使ったのは大学生の時。
一年生の時にラケットを２本すっぽ抜けて折って以来、僕は二度と悲劇を起こさない最強のドライグリップを血眼になって探していました(笑)
が、何でしょうか、ドライ系の筆頭であるトーナグリップを意識したタイプ、それとは違った形のフィーリングのタイプ、色々とあるものの、自分がトーナ以上に気に入ったグリップは殆どありませんでした。
そんな中でタフドライはトーナの強化版と言っても差し支えない出来だと思います。
ドライとして有名なトーナグリップは高校生の頃から「青いグリップと赤いエンドテープは上級者の証」みたいな謳い文句で知ってはいましたが、大学でようやく初使用。
初めてのドライデビューがトーナグリップでしたが耐久性以外はすぐに気に入りました。
肝心の耐久性は知っての通り最悪。
今は割り切ってガンガン巻き変えていますが、学生時代の自分はそれが許せずトーナ以上のグリップを探しました。
トーナ以外で良いなと思ったのはヨネックスのドライスーパーグリップ。
ざらざらとした表面はトーナとはフィーリングが違いますが、手に引っ掛かるので安心して使えた思い出。
もっと言うとウォーターフィットグリップが更にザラザラ。ちょっと痛いぐらい。
僕の中ではドライ史上最強だと一時期確信していたのですが、トーナ以下の耐久性、１本入りしか無いというコスパの悪さから愛用は断念しました・・・。

一時期はトーナでしたが最近は専らドライスーパーを使っています。
自分は・・・ヨネックスのラケットじゃないのにヨネックスのグリップテープってどうなんだろうという謎の拘りでトーナへ。
でもウォーターフィットと共に結構長く使っていました。
ドライスーパーはトーナと違ったタイプですが、パシフィックのXTRグリップは近くてより良い、タタフドライと同じくトーナの強化版と言えると思います。
フカフカしていて安心して握り込める。
人気があるのも納得の良さ。

大学生以来久しぶりにタフドライをラケットに巻く。
トーナグリップはドライと言いながら何だかんだでウェット感みたいなのがあって手に吸い付くイメージがあります。
他のドライ系はドライ過ぎてトーナ好きのツボを通り過ぎている物が多い気がします。
ドライだからドライで正解なんですけどね。
タフドライはまさにトーナに近い感触で、ウェット感が手にしっかりフィットしてくれる。
それでいて汗をかいていてもグリップ力がある。
タフドライで一番の売りにしているのが耐久性、これはもうトーナとは比較にならないです。
ただ、グリップを長く使っているのは不衛生だって意見もありますが・・・。
僕はグリップエンドの鈴木貴男グリップの出っ張りのせいでトーナの寿命が更に削れていってます。
不経済な勢いでトーナを使い捨て過ぎてるなと思うので今だったらタフドライの方が良いかもですね。
それでも大学生の時はトーナの方を選んだのですが、決め手は・・・トーナのチープさですかね 
タフドライの方が耐久性があり、厚みがあり、しっかり作られている。
が、あのトーナの薄っぺらさの方が妙に心地良い。
タフドライは性能を向上させ過ぎてあの安っぽさを再現できなかったとも言えるでしょう(暴論)
それ以外の点では上回っているのがタフドライ。
トーナと違って巻き始めに両面テープ付いてるし、全長長いから足りないどころかフレームまでテープ巻けるし・・・って、ここまでくるとトーナはよくもあれだけ不親切？な仕様で人気だなって感じですね。

トーナの耐久性の低さに耐えかねている人はタフドライにすると殆ど違和感なく移行できると思います。
