恥ずかしながら自分は車いすテニスをまだちゃんと見た事が無かった。
国枝選手が凄い事は知っていても実際にどうやってテニスをするのかが想像つかない。
ただでさえコートカバーは大変なのに車椅子でコートを守れるのか。
２バウンドまでＯＫと言いますが、いざ自分が２バウンドでやってみたところでドロップは取りやすくなっても左右の球は追いきれないのでは・・・と、自分にとって分からない点ばかりのスポーツ。
いつか見に行こうと思っていて、千葉の吉田記念テニス研修センターまでやってきました。
全日本選抜車いすテニスマスターズの決勝戦。
女子の部の上地選手対田中選手、クアードの部の菅野選手対宇佐美選手、眞田選手対藤本選手の３試合。
上地選手はご存知世界ランキング１位、ダブルスでグランドスラムを達成し、シングルスでも今年は全豪、全仏、全米を獲得。
まだ23歳ですが全日本マスターズでは14歳で初優勝して以来９連覇中との事。とんでもない王者振り。
大分有名だと思われる上地選手と対戦する田中選手は2020年の東京パラリンピックを目指す21歳で世界ランキング15位。
両者共に高い世界ランクを持つ選手同士の試合でしたが、上地選手の攻めがあまりにもエグかった。
最初のリターンゲームから上地選手がフォアをライン際に叩いて決める速攻の攻撃的テニス。
彼女がフォアで打ったボールは大体一撃でエース。
田中選手は途中からギアを上げ、上地選手よりも速いファーストサービスを決めるようになるのですが当の相手は中々ミスを見せない。
バックのスライスも田中選手の方が低く伸びて上なのですが、自分より上手いボールを上地選手は難なく打ち返す。
上地選手の方が攻撃のタイミングが速く、バックハンドもフラットに叩き隙あらばエースを決める。
拮抗したラリーは幾つかあったものの上地選手が少ない球数で決めてしまうエースも多く、あっさりした形のスコアで試合は終わってしまった。
ラリーの内容、田中選手のプレーの引き出しの多さに対し6-1、6-1という結果。
これが１０連覇を達成した上地選手の力か。
２試合目のクアードは１位の菅野選手対４位の宇佐美選手。
今年からクアードの部に転向したという菅野選手は全球フルスイングで圧巻の攻撃だった。
猛烈なアタックで宇佐美選手に調子を出させず6-0、6-1。
肩を痛めているようでサービスはアンダーサーブだったのですが、アンダーサーブで真っ先に思い浮かぶスライスは少なめで、直線的なスピンと山なりで高く跳ねさせるスピンの２種類を、ワイドのコースを目いっぱい使って相手を翻弄。
アンダーサーブでスピードこそ出せないもののキツいコースにサーブを入れて、相手をコートに外に追い出す。
優位に立つ場面が多く、２球目にボレーへ出て決めるパターンも見られました。
３試合目の眞田選手対藤本選手は、もはやテニスと遜色ない凄い速度でラリーを展開していました。
車椅子だから強く打てない、と思っていたら大違い。
ストロークもサーブも凄く響く打球音を鳴らし豪快に放つ。
２試合はバックハンドは守りに使っているという印象を受けましたが、この２人はバックすら攻撃の武器。
眞田選手は上地選手はバックハンドの背面打ちもよく見られた。
全体的に見てフォアは攻撃、バックは守りというイメージで、バックを攻撃的に使える人は大きなアドバンテージになっている。
藤本選手はサーブのコースだったり、ネットプレーの多さだったりで序盤は互角の戦いを見せたのですが、6-3、6-2というスコアで眞田選手に軍配が上がる。
初めて見た車いすテニスで驚いたのが、予想以上に思いっきりボールを叩き、容赦無く攻めている事。
ベースラインギリギリにボールが飛び込み、相手にボールを２バウンドで処理させない。
どうしても機動力が足りない部分を誰もが徹底的に叩く。
そしてその足元ギリギリのボールを打たれればライジングでカウンター、球際での技量の高さが光る。
サーブも、見るまでは単純に打点が低くなるから打ち難いのではと思っていましたが、そもそもﾌｯﾄﾜｰｸを意識した車いすでは静止するのが難しく、トスアップの時に皆ゆらゆらと車いすが揺れている。
それを出来る限り最小限に抑えてサービスを決めるが、やはり武器にするのは難しいのか女子とクアードではリターンを強気で攻める選手がとても多かった。
男子はバシバシ打っていてまるで格闘技の様相で度肝を抜かされたのですが、これでも眞田選手はまだ四大大会の本戦に出れていないとの事で驚いた。
国枝選手だったらもっと凄まじいラリーをすると言うのだろうか。
自分の想像を超えるスピードとテクニックで打ち合う車いすテニスはどんな展開になるのか読めず、目が離せないプレーの連続でした。
