トアルソンのエスマッハツアー280をようやく打ちました。
ストリングはいつものようにHDアスタポリ。
50ポンドで張り上げたのは一週間前、雨でテニスが流れて昨日が初打ち。
以前トラックマンで試し打ちした時は黄金スペックらしかぬフィーリングにおおっとなったものの、打球速度は薄ラケ達と特に変わらなかったエスマッハ。
フレームが厚いからこそ飛びが良くなると思うのですが、スピードが薄ラケと変わらなかったらフレームがデカくて振りにくいだけになってしまうじゃないですか。
不安な点は残るものの、まあもう買っちゃいましたしアスタポリでガチテスト。
エスマッハと言えば見た目でまず目に付くのがアエロっぽいシャフト。
アエロに似てるって結構言われてましたね。
エスマッハのシャフトは六角形で捻れへの強さを求めた形状なのに対し、アエロのシャフトは空気抵抗を意識したものなので、実際のところは似ちゃったようで狙いが違うというのが面白いところ。
個人的にはアエロモジュラーも剛性あってパワー出そうなイメージですが。
トアルソンのメーカー説明では、この六角形のシャフト、ヘクストルクフレームは捻れに強く、なおかつ最適なしなりを実現してスピンとパワーを出しているとの事。
しかし正直なところ、残念ながら私の技術ではシャフトのしなりを感じ取れませんでした・・・。
シャフトよりも気になったフィーリングは、フェイス部分の方でした。
エスマッハのフェイスにはフレックスカウンターパーツ、シナジービッグホール、ストレートドリルを搭載。
フレックスカウンターパーツは9時15時の位置に搭載。
薄い板みたいに出っ張ってる部分によって面ブレを抑えてくれるそうですが、見てくれだけだとウィルソンのPWSの方が心強い気がします。
シナジービッグホールはストリングの穴を大きくする事によって可動域を増やしパワー増大を狙っているとの事。
プリンスのO3はよく敬遠され勝ちなキワモノ扱いされる事が多いと思いますが、その割にはO3みたくストリングの可動域増やしましたってラケットって随分と出てますよね。
穴大きくしただけのとO3だったら断然O3の方がストリングがよく動いてくれてスイートスポットもスピンもパワーも良いのではないでしょうか。
打ってみるとボワンとするO3に対し、エスマッハはグニャリ。
試打の時はミクロスーパー、今回はHDアスタポリですがフレームの感触はやはり一緒。
トアルソンのラケットは素材が良いという評判ですが、フェイス部分のこの打球感はしなり、柔らかさというより、何だかガットが大きく動くことによる感じな気がする。
フレックスカウンターパーツの部分がしっかりしているから、余計にガットが大きく動いてボールをシャープに捉えてくれる。
シャープに捉える、となると食いつきが良いってイメージですが、このラケットは球持ちの方もかなりあると思います。
ピュアドラ系のフレームが厚いラケットはボールを弾き、ボックスフレームはしなってボールを持ってくれる、そういう風に認識していますが、エスマッハはボールがすぐに飛んでいかず待ってくれる。
昔、グラファイト100Tにヘッドのホークの組み合わせからピュアドラに変えた事がありましたが、ピュアドラにホークだと弾き過ぎてボールを持たず、コントロールがし辛くなりました。
その時はホークの変わりにラフコードを入れることで、自分が好んだ100Tとホークの球持ち感に近づけていました。
今回張っているHDアスタポリはホークと比べて弾く感じが強いポリ。
球持ちはイマイチですがそれ以外の性能には大満足なのでロールで愛用中。
柔らかいと言われるプロストックのラケットに張っても弾きの感触が強いこのガット、厚ラケに張ってしまったらなおさら嫌な打球感になるはず。
しかしエスマッハとの組み合わせだとグニャッとなって全然ボールを持ってくれる。
TX222Pと遜色無い、むしろ更に持ってくれる感さえもある（それは盛り過ぎか）
他のボックスフレームならいざ知れず、ピュアドラ系でこの球持ち感。
厚いフレームでこんなにボールを持ってくれるなら勝手に弾いてアウトとか、ボールが暴発する心配が無い。
球持ち感に加えてフレックスカウンターパーツ、これによって面がブレないとなると、相手の速いボールに対し負け難いラケットとなる。
相手の強打に対して打ち返し易いラケットとなると、厚いタイプよりボックスフレームがまず候補になるが、エスマッハは厚いのにブレ難い。
こういう感触は昔、グラフィンラジカルでも感じて凄い素材が出たものだと思ったものですが、好きなガットを張っているのもありますが、打球時の柔らかさ？と球持ちを含めるとエスマッハの方がより遠慮無しに打ち込めるかも。
しかも今回試しているのは280g。
軽いラケットだと打ち負けるイメージがありますがこのエスマッハにはそれが無い。
（でもグラフィンラジカルも300gにちょっと届かないぐらいだったっけ）
エスマッハは300gと280gがありますが、そのどちらにもツアーの名前が付いています。
ツアーの付くラケットはメーカー問わずありますが、示し合わせたかのように共通しているのが通常よりも重いという事。
中にはラケット名自体がツアーのせいでツアーチームとかツアーライトとかになっちゃうプリンスのラケットもありますが、ツアースペックというのは競技者向けの重いフレームという認識で合ってるかと思います。
エスマッハは280gでもツアーの名を外していません。
軽くても強いボールに打ち負けないという自信があるからなのかもしれません。
軽いツアーがあるのは他にはプリンスぐらいでしょうか。
ただ気になる点として、ライバルとなるピュアドラやビースト100、ウルトラらが揃いも揃って柔らかさとか球持ち感をアピールしていてキャラが被っているところ。
エスマッハの方が先には出ましたが後続達の宣伝手法は有力メーカーらしくいつもながらかなり派手。
これで他メーカーもエスマッハばりのクオリティー、なんて事がまさかありえてしまうのだろうか・・・。
個人的にエスマッハはTX222Pと比べても割と良い感じにボールをコントロールできる能力が黄金スペック帯であるにも関わらず備わっていると思います。
あくまでグラファイト使っていくつりもでテストしましたが、325g～330gで27.5インチと比べると280gのエスマッハ、最初軽過ぎたのでレザーに巻き替えて打ちましたが、
そりゃ当然ですが使い易い（笑）
再度グラファイトを持つと、なんでこんなの使ってんだっていうバランス・・・
グラファイト以外はどうしても使いたくないんだけど、でも、そりゃ軽い方が使いやすいし、大会でも最近は特に負けてばっかだし、上手い人には技術的にも体力的にも付き合いきれないし、後輩にはどんどん追い抜かれているし、うーん・・・。
