世界ランキング最高９位のニコラス・アルマグロがあきやま病院所属で日本リーグにエントリーしている。
その前にウィニングショットと使用契約結んでいたので「お～日本が好きなんだな～」なんてぐらいに最初は思っていたが、よくよく考えたらとんでもない事だった。

トップレベルの日本人選手が強くなり過ぎて出場しなくなって久しいですが、アルマグロ選手の参戦によって日本リーグの在り方が大きく変わるのではないか、これはただ単に元世界９位を無料で見れるってだけの話ではないように思います。
そもそも三菱電機の杉田選手が当たり前のように登録されていますが、日本テニス歴代２位の絶対的なエースを倒せる可能性がある選手となると、それこそアルマグロ選手しか出てこない。

というか今年の選手登録を見ると、既に杉田とアルマグロ以外にも凄い選手が集まっているっぽい。
昨年覇者のエキスパートパワーシズオカには以前京都チャレンジャーで見たロイド・ハリス選手が一番手で登録されてました。
今年のテニスはシャポやズベレフといった若手が目立ちましたが、20歳のハリスは現在288位、京都で見た時も285位で苦戦している様子。
しかしあの豪快なスイングのストロークは日本人には脅威的。

新たに日本リーグに参戦する選手達の活躍次第では、来年、再来年には勝つ為に更なる強豪選手達が集まるリーグになるかもしれない。
