土曜はシングルスの大会、2-8で一回戦負け。
最近の試合はヘタレたテニスばっかりだったのでストローク全球強打貫いたらフォア壊滅。
フォアダメじゃ勝てないよねそりゃ。
日曜はダブルスの市民大会で予選リーグ1勝1敗。
ダブルスの試合は去年の夏に出た団体戦振り。
その前は春前に後輩と出た試合。
そもそも去年が大学卒業後に初めて出たダブルスだった。
自分はとにかくダブルスが苦手だから今まで全然試合に出なかった。
中学の時は軟式でダブルスしかなかったからやり難いなんて事は思わなかったのに、自分の裁量でプレーできないのがもどかしく感じる。
他人にペアを組んでもらうのが恥ずかしく、申し訳ない。
ただでさえシングルス負けまくりでろくなプレーもできないのにね、自分に付き合わせたくないって思う。
振り返ると高校も大学もペアを活かす事が全くできなくてダブルスは特に散々だった。
ボレーができないから縮こまったのか、人を思いやる事が不足してるのか、はたしてアレはダブルスになっていたのだろうか。
去年も高校の後輩と出た試合は上手く噛み合わず全敗だった気がする。
何年も一緒にテニスしている後輩と組んでいるのにパフォーマンスを出せない自分にただただ唖然だった。
もっと言うと市民大会でシングルス入賞できる弟と組んだら初戦負けにしちゃうのだから、もうろくな思い出が無いねダブルス。
だからもうずっとダブルスは出ようとしてなかった訳ですが、最近やたらと綾高生が外の大会にも出てくるようになってきたじゃないですか。
自分のホームグラウンドにも誘ってみたら現部長は出ると即答。
それも自分以外の面子まで引っ張り出すではないですか。
やる気が予想以上にあって面食らうよ。

とうとう、後輩と同じ舞台で戦う日がやってきてしまった。
秋のシングルスまで待とうかとも思ったけど、ずっと待っていたのだから待ち切れるはずが無い。
苦手だろうと何だろうと戦う時が来たのだ。
自分は今回、高校の先輩と組んで市民大会ダブルスへ参戦。
2007年～2010年の綾高ダブルＳ１コンビ。
大会の前週に草大会で腕試しをしてみたら２勝１敗、自分の抱くダブルスへの悪い印象を払拭するぐらいに上手くいく。
しかし肝心の予選、昨日に引き続き１試合目からフォアハンドが一切入らず序盤１－３ぐらい差をつけられる。
先輩のネットプレーでカバーしてもらい何とかじわりと追い上げ逆転勝ち。
２試合目もフォアがダメながらキープ合戦を続けるも、終盤に自分がダブルフォルト２連発をやらかし敗戦。
本戦には上がったものの自分が足を引っ張る結果に。
前週が良かっただけにこの醜態はダメージがデカい。
自分では何もできない苦しい試合だった。
ホントいつもながら勝てない。一体いつまでこんなプレーなのだろうか。
しかし昔と違って今回は先輩と組んでいるのだから、後輩がようやくここまでやって来たのだから、彼らと一緒に戦うにはこんな苦境はぶっ飛ばさなきゃいけないね。
