漆黒に包まれし異形のラケット・・・イキリ道具オタクたる私も試打すべく某所へ赴く・・・
まあ昭和の森テニスセンターですけどね。
買い替える気はあまり無いですけどせっかくなのでニュースタンダードを掲げるラケットを打ってきました。
ツイストパワーテクノロジーを持つプリンスのＸ１００、Ｘ１０５。
下手したらスリクソンのＸシリーズと名前が丸被り
はっきり言ってキワモノ。
でもそもそもプリンスの最初のラケットからしてデカラケでキワモノ扱いだったのですから、平常運転って事ですよねある意味。
９０インチ以下の小さいフェイスサイズが普通だった時代に１１０インチを投入してどこのラケットもこの大きさになったように、このツイストされたラケットがスタンダードになる可能性も・・・もしかしたら・・・？
捩れてるって事だけしか見てなくて詳しいスペックは知らなかったのですが、このラケット、フェイス部分はボックスフレーム。
パッと見ではピュアドラ系のフレームを捻ったのかなと安直に思ってましたが、箱型形状に加えてフレーム厚は２４．５ｍｍ、結構バランス型のスペック。
そこそこの厚みがあるもののボックスフレームとなると性能はそこそこコントロール寄りか。
その厚さもそうですが、ボックスフレームと言いつつもヨーク部にやや傾斜があるのでツアー１００をベースに捻ったのかなと思いましたが開発の人によると新規のフレームとの事。
ボックスに傾斜が付いた形状はスリクソンのX2.0も同じでしたが、やっぱりこれでコントロールとパワー両立になるのかな。
105インチの方になるとただの面の大きい版ではなくて頭のてっぺんが27mm、サイドが25mmという大胆に変化を持たせたパワー重視の設計。
ビースト９８と同じタイプですね。
頭がデカいラケットも殆ど他では見当たりませんが（最近だとグラフィネクストのスピードREVぐらい？）こういった珍しい、例の少ないスペックに積極的に挑んでいるのも、ニュースタンダードを目指す一環なのでしょうか。
いや、もしやプリンスのCTSシリーズが生まれた時点で既にあったのかな？
そして105インチ27mmの厚さですがフレームはこれもまたボックス。
正確にはもうちょっとラウンド気味にしているようですが、X100もX105もボックスフレームをベースにしていてコントロールラブな性格を持っているのは間違いないと思う。
まあでもオーバーサイズの厚ラケってラウンドと言うよりある程度正面厚もあるのが普通だったか。
プリンスは厚ラケのエンブレムシリーズもボックスですね。
テキストリームからシンプルになった印象のプリンスですが何だかんだで他と差が出てる。
また、今回のXシリーズは説明を見てもどこにもテキストリームの記載がありません。
素材を見てもカーボンの一言のみ。
せっかくのプリンスの売りの素材を使わない理由・・・まさか捩っただけで妥協したのか？
なんて思ってましたがどうやらちゃんとテキストリームを使用しているとの事。
プリンスと言えばテキストリーム、だから特に書いていなくても使っていて当たり前でしょ？高級素材？それがデフォです、なんて、これぞまさにニュースタンダード。
Xの売りはツイストパワーテクノロジーですからね、重要なのはそっちって事ですね。
ここまで打つ前の印象としては思ったよりもちゃんとしている、特にボックス形状が良い。
練習会はまず球出しでフォアバック。
こういう時ってついつい思いっきり打っちゃうからフィーリングが残り難いよね。
シュパーンとやっちゃって、うーん、フォアバックで差あるかなぁ？
そもそもフォアバックで打ち方違うんだから硬い柔らかいの差感じ難いのでは？とか思い始める。
決して変な打球感ではないのは流石テキストリーム。
ただ使い込んでいく内に段々分かってくる。
あ、ちょっとこれは上手く面にパワー当たれてないなってバックのボール、これが伸びる。
ラリーで特に顕著となって、バックでの多少のミスはスポーンとラケットがどうにかしてくれる。
フレーム厚の割に柔らかいし優しく跳ね返す。
しなりってのは薄いラケットの特権だろうけど、いいよこのしなり戻し。
フォアの方もハードヒットが合ってくるとカチッとした打球感が伝わってくる。
シバくフォア側と、伸びるバック。
メーカー説明ではフォアとバックで１０％の差が出るとか何とかって事でしたが、大体そんぐらいの差があると思う。
ツイストパワーテクノロジーは確かにフォア面とバック面で違いが出る。
そして開発担当の方が推していたのがサーブでの能力。
フォア・バックの違いを前面に押し出しているこのラケットですが、以前の試打会ではサーブでの評価も高かったとの事。
サーブを打つ時はバック側の面になるのかな、バックの面は柔らかく、しなって伸びる面。
サーブでのプレーも気持ち良い。
分かりやすいからとは言え、バックの強化だけでなくこちらもアピールしても良いのでは。
さて、捻くれたイキリ道具オタクなので右利きだけど左利き用のラケットも使う。
僕的にはですねぇ、フォアよりバックの方が武器なんですよぉ。
だからフォアの方はね、吸い付くフィーリングと言いますか、ちゃんとしたコントロール性ってものが欲しいのよ。
バックはいくらでもフルスイングでボール叩き潰しちゃうからさ。
だから僕にはフォアでしなってバックで弾く左利き用の方が合ってる、ってね。
大事なのはフォア・バックで性能が違うって事じゃなぁい、１本のラケットが２つの能力を保持している事、これがさ、フォア・バックで決まった分かれ方をするって勿体無いじゃなぁぁぁい？
ちなみに開発担当の方に「あまりオススメしません」、「間違いなくオススメしません」、「これで良いんだったら普通に飛ぶラケット使った方が良い」と言われました。
ラケットの性能に確かな自信を持つグローブライドスタッフに無謀にも挑むアマチュアクレー。
さて右利きが左利き用を使う。
フォアは凄く良い感じ。
ボールが伸びるわ伸びるわ。
でもバックがダメで飛ばない。
飛ばさずにさっさと弾いて離れてしまう。
フォアに見劣りしまくり。
うん、ダメね。利き腕用の方が良いね！（笑）
ストロークの球出しやサーブを打った後にプリンス契約選手とラリー。
なんと上杉兄弟も来ていました。
お兄さんの方はテニスユニバース所属で昭和の森が本拠地になるのかな。
弟の方はフューチャーズダブルス優勝で帰ってきたその足でやってきたそう。
プロと打てるって聞いてなかったけどすっげー豪華な試打会でした。
流石にプロはＸシリーズを使ってはいませんでしたが・・・。
今回はスロート以外２４．５ｍｍストレートとMAX２７ｍｍ、全体的に飛びのあるタイプだったので個人的にはやはり20mm以下だったらどうなるか打ってみたくなる。
２４．５ｍｍは良い感じのバランスだけど、例えば薄ラケ使っている人にとってはフォア面バック面両方ともパワー強化になるし、ピュアドラ系使ってる人からすれば飛びが落ちて、はたしてバック強化に繋がるのか、それともツイストの力は２４．５ｍｍから厚ラケを上回るパワーを出してくれるか。
バック面のしなり戻しはピュアドラ族のような硬いフレックスのラケットには出せないものだと思いますが。
捩れたラケットがこれからのスタンダードになるか否か・・・能力は本物だと思うのですが、より多くの人がメリットを確信するにはもう２パターン違う厚さのラケットが用意されていたら、なんて欲張り過ぎるか。
これが１００インチの２０ｍｍ以下、もしくは２６ｍｍ、２７ｍｍだったら薄ラケ厚ラケから乗り換えてのツイストパワーテクノロジーのメリットをより感じやすくなるんじゃないかなと思う。
ツイストパワーテクノロジーは間違いなく機能する、なら通常飛び難い薄ラケに使ったらどれだけパワーアシストしてくれるか。
でもアシスト力のあるバック面、この伸びの性能はフォア側でも欲しいなと思ったり。
どうにか上手い具合にツイストを両方アシスト重視にできないものか、ツイストの目的全否定かそれじゃ。
あとちょっと難しいかもと思ったのがストリングのセッティング。
フォア側とバック側のどっちを基準にするか。
飛ぶガットを選んだらバック側がかなりオーバーするんじゃ？とか。
コントロール重視で硬くしたらフォア硬すぎ、バックもあまり飛ばない？とか。
今までに無いタイプだからってのがあるけど、飛ぶラケット、飛ばないラケットというはっきりしたジャンルではないからガットでどういう性能を付加するかってのがちょっと悩みどころになるんじゃ？って思う。
ガット選びに悩むのもまたテニスの楽しみ方の一つではありますが。
あとここ最近のラケットの流れでどこもかしこも真っ黒なラケットばっかりなのはちょっと頂けないなと思うのですが・・・
Ｘもせっかく捩れたシャフトという個性があるのに流行で真っ黒にしちゃったらちょっと目立たなくなっちゃうんじゃないの？とやや思う。
いやまあ形で一目で分かりますけども。
真っ黒は確かに外れない格好良さですけども。
でもいかにも流行に乗りました感がねぇ・・・ラケットのカラーとか個性を大事にしないと埋もれちゃいそうじゃない？
でもでもプリンスのブラックはテキストリームシリーズからずっと続いているブラック、流行に流されたブラックでは無いのは良いところか。
