一番力を入れてる大会が市民大会。
毎度毎度本戦行っても初戦負け、いい加減この成長してなさ具合をどうにかしたい。
今回はゴンちゃんとJOPで力を蓄えて迎えるのだから、ド派手な戦績残したいよね。
・・・とは思うものの、強い人に散々やられてきた様を思うと、最近自分がちゃんとしたテニスをできるイメージが沸かない。
いつも勝ってる人達と比べて、まだまだ大会で勝ち上がる力は無いなぁと感じる。
本当に気付いたのが今更なんですけど、自分がどういうプレースタイルでやるかとか作戦とかって、全然考えてなかったんですよ。
いつもすぐミスるからなるべく繋げるようにしよう、タイミング早くなり勝ちだから抑えていこう、ダブルフォルト多いから入れる重視でいこう、試合で考えているのはこんな事ばっか。
作戦と言うよりは自分の注意点。
フォアもバックもサーブもボレーも弱点だらけで作戦もクソも無いからって、ミスの原因に気をつけようってなって、肝心のどうやって点を取るかについては無策。
サーブも最近ダブルフォルトがとても減った。
けど、確率が改善してもゲームが取れない。
サーブの次はラリーが繋がらない、点が取れない。
とは言っても現状漠然と打ってるだけのようなもの。
繋げようとするより強気で攻めた方が返ってミスらない、って経験がとても思い当たる節があるのだけれど、どう戦うか明確にするってのがやっぱ大事なんだろうなぁ。今更。
ミスが多いのに攻める、矛盾してるこれを実行しようとするのは難しい。
大会で勝つにはまだまだ遠い道のりですなぁ。
そんな訳でこの大会も作戦より注意点にしか殆ど目がいかないまま迎えまして。
予選はリーグ形式で２位まで上がれる仕組み。
僕は毎回２位上がり。万年２位上がり。
他の市だったら予選落ちよ。
自分はリーグ２試合目からだったので対戦相手をじっくり観察する事に成功。
一人目の相手はボールの打ち方こそ歳相応の柔らかさであるが、配球は攻撃的。
あの手この手で守ってくるベテランも厄介ですが、攻撃的なスタイルを貫くベテランは危険。
自分より深いキャリアで作り上げられた攻撃的戦術は、井の中の蛙の自分が真正面から挑んだら大体酷い目に遭う。
しかし積極性のあるフォアに対しバック側ではあまり仕掛ける雰囲気が無い、となれば若さの力でバックを攻撃しまくれば、相手の得意そうなフォアによる攻撃中心のテニスを封じ込め、作戦をガラッと変えさせる事ができる。
得意なテニスを封じれば相手はリズムを作るのが難しくなるだろう・・・なんて作戦を練っていざ試合をしたら０－６。
確かに相手のフォアの攻撃を封じた感はあったが、バックのスライスの返球が全然できなかった。
ドつぼにハマってサクサクと点を失ってストレート負け。
これがトーナメントだったら即終了ですよ。
確かにスライスを打たれるのは苦手だけど、それにしてもそういうのが来ると分かってて、見ていて０－６は酷いよね。作戦とは何だったのか。
遅い球、スライスの球に滅法弱くて自滅。分かりきってるのに未だにこれかよ。
２人目の相手は昔から何度もやっていてシングルス通算０勝７敗。
初めて戦ったのは２０１２年、もう６年も経つが一度も勝っていない。
内訳は0-8、3-6、6-8、4-8、3-6、2-6、4-6。
シコラー、ではあるがとにかく崩れない。
どんな局面でもプレーが乱れる事は無く、隙を見せてくれない。
武器は繋げる事ではなく集中力と精神力だと思う。
最初はとにかく嫌な相手だった。
その後気付いたのだが、彼はとても練習量が多い。
たまに朝早くテニスコートに行くと隣のコートでやっている・・・というのが毎度のようにあった。
たまにって頻度の自分に対し、恐らく彼はもっとやっているのだと思う。
練習相手を探していたらたまたま彼とやる事もあった。
彼に何度やられて、強くなろうと自分が何かをやろうしたら、既に彼がやっていた、みたいな。
テニスの戦い方こそ違えど、強くなりたいという思いは似てるかもというか、同じかもというか、いや、彼の方が先駆者なのだと思う。
散々やられているからライバルと呼ぶには分不相応、かと言って宿敵と呼ぶには関係が遠過ぎるかも、となれば先駆者か、ある意味先輩か。
８回目になる試合、相手が徹底的に粘ってくるのは分かり切っているので、こちらが勝つにはとにかく攻め続ける。
この試合に限っては自分のミスの原因を減らそうとか、そういう考えがどっか行ってた。
体の方が先に動いて、何故かやたらとクロスやストレートで攻撃的にコースを突く。
最近はこんなギリギリの攻め方連発しないのに、今まで散々負けまくっていたせいか粘りを突破しようと自然に危険な勝負ばっかしてしまう。
それと昔はネットプレーがダメだった、今もダメでできればやりたくないのですが、出てしまった時は仕方なく腹を括る。
昔と比べてネットプレーでの得点が増えた。
８回目の試合は6-3で初めて勝利できたが、その要因がネットプレーの回数だと思う。
ラリーで根負けしていたところをネットプレーへの挑戦で、ミスが減ったのかポイントが増えたのか。
しかし5-2という今までにない優勢な状態で追い詰めても相手は気持が切れる、一切諦める様子が無く、土壇場で1ゲームを取られた時は嫌なイメージばかりが頭を過ぎった。
今まで勝てなかったこの相手は、5-2まで追い詰めてもこっから逆転する事だってできるメンタルの持ち主だとよく知っている。
何とか6-3で終わらせる事ができて助かった。
なんとか予選を通過して次の日の本戦。
相手のプレーは予選の日に確認済み、でもそもそも大会で残してる戦績は相手の方が上。
トップスピンを高速で打ってくる。かなりエグい。
フォアではマトモに打ち返せない。
言い訳するとグラファイトがボールを飛ばしてくれない、真ん中に当たってくれない。
なんで本番直前にラケット変えてるんだよ。
もうこれからはグラファイトしかない！と思ったけど普通に悪手だったよ・・・。
グラファイトヨークを持つボックスフレームならば強い相手の球に打ち負けない！以前にそもそもちゃんと当てられませんでした・・・。
とは言いつつも予選で１勝できたのはグラファイトのコントロール性のおかげであると思いたい。
予選は以前のセッティングのアスタポリを使ったものの全く飛ばせず、翌日の本戦はぶっつけ本番でメイン：アスタポリ・クロス：プロフォーカスのハイブリッドに変更。一番力を入れてる大会で何故こうするのか。
ボールの打ち方が厚ラケ用になっているかの様。
ラケットの反発力に任せるような感覚になってしまい、グラファイトの力を引き出せなくなってしまった・・・。
ただしバックは予選本戦共にマシだったので助かった。
が、相手がサーブ、ストローク共にスピン、高いところからググッと落ちるボールのタイミングを取れず。
最近取り組んでいて調子の良かった攻めのリターンも、スピンサーブを捉えられずミスりまくってしまった。
こういう強い相手とちゃんと戦えなきゃいつまで経っても良い成績は残せない。
ちゃんと打ち合える厚い当たりのストロークとか、もっと奥行きのあるスピンサーブとか、マトモなネットプレーとか、足りないものばかり。
しんどいなぁ、壁を破って次のレベルへ行きたいぞ。
