ウィニングショットより新しいナイロンストリング、スネークスピンが発表されました。
スピン系のストリングと言えば昨今ではとにかくポリばかり。
何でしたっけ、数値の測定でもポリエステルの方がスピンかかり易いって出ているんでしたっけ？僕もそう思います。
僕的には耐久性目的にポリを選んだ事は無くて、ポリで打てるボールの質に惹かれて挑戦して、それ以来ボール的にもフィーリング的にもずっとポリ。
まあでも、何でもかんでもナイロンよりポリの方が優秀！なんてばかり言っていると困る人達もいるわけで。
そんな無闇に無理矢理ポリ使わなくても・・・って話でしょ。
まず軽く振っただけでナイロンの方が速くてよく飛ぶのは明白。
ポリで良いボールになる人、ナイロンで良いボールになる人って人それぞれ。
にも関わらず！最近発売される新作って基本的にポリばっかり。
どこからともなく漂ってくるポリブーム・・・だけでなく、製品を作るメーカーさえもそういう方向なので、ポリが苦手って方々にはちょっと肩身の狭い昨今かもしれません。
さてさて、今回ウィニングショットより 出るスネークスピンはモノフィラメント構造で、画像を見て分かる通り、表面がウネウネしてるのが分かると思います。
ポリでスピン系と言ったらＲＰＭブラストやポリツアースピンみたいに形状をカクカクにしてしまうって手法がポピュラーですが、いかにも柔らかそうなナイロン系だとそういう加工をしているストリングはほぼありません。
大昔に四角形のナイロンストリングがあったらしいですが・・・。
という事で、スネークスピンはシンプルなモノフィラメント構造の外側に３本の側糸を巻きつけていて、それによる凸凹感でボールを引っ掛け、スピンを掛けるという構造にしています。
・・・という話ですが、ここの時点でマニアな皆さんならもう勘付いているかと思われます。
「モノフィラメントに側糸を巻きつけた凸凹ガットなんて今までに沢山あったじゃん・・・」
ご尤もです。
トアルソンで言えばＴＮＴ２127スピンが太さ以外まさにそっくり。
ナイロンでスピン系と言えば大体このタイプ。
アスタリスタスピン、ムゲンスピン、プリンスのライトニングＸＸスピン、トップスピンＤＦ・・・
例外はアスタリスタツアーぐらい？
後はゴーセンのスピン、ＡＫプロスピン、レクタングルＺ、よく見たらここら辺は側糸を上から巻きつけるというか、そもそも側糸のサイズをデカくするって感じに見える。
一説ではナイロンの特にモノフィラメントは完成度が高いから新作を作る余地があまり無いとか・・・。
なので過去のストリングと似たような物になるのは仕方が無い事ですが、流石にそのままの復刻品という訳では無く。
突起物や凸凹、ストリングのスナップバック、スピンに関する要素にはストリングの磨耗が付き纏うもの。
そこでスネークスピンは側糸の一部にピーク材という物を使用しており、通常のタイプより耐久性を上げています。
そして素材を変えれば当然、打球感にも変化は付き物。
あまり目立ち難い変化ですがスピンによる磨耗対策としての変化。
よくある構造というのが気になったので今回はＴＮＴ２127スピンも用意して打ち比べしました。
普段はポリしか使ってないから尚更、ナイロンの打球感を手に馴染ませないと。
ＴＮＴ２127スピンもただのストリングではなくＴＮＴ２照射によって反発力を強化したモデル。
公称値はスネークスピンは1.25mm～1.32mm、ＴＮＴ２127スピンは1.27mmですが、それ以外見た目はそっくり。
という事で試打。
個人的な印象ではナイロンの凸凹ストリングはボールを引っ掛ける、というよりかは摩擦による抵抗でのスピン。
鋭利ではないせいかポリの多角形のような引っ掛かり、喰い付きは流石に感じられない。
普段からフラット打ち、スピンが全然かけられない僕だと、ポリの多角形の方がスピンが勝手に掛かってくれるので楽。
スネークスピンはスピンを打つスイングをすれば掛かる。
ただしスナップバックは凸凹だから仕方ないけどイマイチ。
張ってしばらく経つと少し硬化してるような。これもナイロンの宿命。
もしかしたら、凸凹加工より細いゲージの方がスピンのキレが良くなるのでは・・・？とちょっと思った。
今回、ＴＮＴ２127スピン以外にも何となくシンセティック125スーパーレイザー（写真上）も張ってみて打ってみましたが、僕的にはシンプルな構造のスーパーレイザーがスピンも飛びも一番良かったです。
普通に細い方がキレ良くすっきりと飛んでくれる。
このスーパーレイザー、公式サイトだと反発力もスピンも３の並評価。
うーむ、不思議だ。
スネークスピン、打って気になったのが思ったよりマイルドな打球感。
値上に1.25mmの箇所があるとはいえ凸凹してるので当然実際は太い部分もありますが、おそらくピーク材の影響もあって少し硬め？
弾力性も低いような気がします。
打った時にボールの飛び出しがやや遅い。
このマイルド感は即ちホールド感と言えるでしょうか。
喰い付き、ストリングのたわみ、というのはスーパーレーザーより感じられる。
ただしたわんだ後のボールの飛びは逆な感じ。
ボールを捉えている時間がやや長めに感じられるので、その部分でコントロール性があるなと思います。
モノフィラメントは基本的に反発力の高いストリングが多い中で、スネークスピンはやや抑え目でコントロール性重視かなと。
ＴＮＴ２127スピンは逆に、当たるとボールを飛ばしてくれます。
やはりこっちも凸凹の分打球感はマイルド寄りですがボールはしっかり飛ぶ。
これがＴＮＴ加工の効果か。
こうして打ち比べるとよりスネークスピンのコントロール性が際立つ。
このマイルド感と凸凹加工が合わさってスピン性が強調されているのでしょう。
モノフィラメントらしい攻撃力、飛びは無い一方でしなやかなホールド感、コントロール性。
普段ナイロンストリングを使っている方が乗り換えた場合、スピン特化と言うより、スピン・ホールド感による全体的なコントロール性の高まりでショットの安定感が増すのではないかなと思います。
