自分と弟がそれぞれの学校でテニスをするようになってからはコートに立つ機会はめっきり無くなっていたが、最近父がテニス復帰に躍起になっている。
物心ついた時から父はずっとウィルソンのデカラケのハンマー3.2という恐らく90年代の？物を使っていたが、他のラケットを試しても全然気に入らないらしく2017年に至るまでずっとこのラケットで来てしまった。
スペックを調べてみると260g台の110インチ、長さは28インチでストリングパターンが18×20。
フレームは何だか空洞が多くて頼りない、現代のデカラケと比べるとまるでイメージが違う。
何でパワーアシストを求められる110インチのラケットでストリングの目を細かくするんだとか、面デカい上に28インチとか軽さだけで操作性フォローできるのかとか、現代の感覚で見るとツッコミ所ばかり。
まさに旧世代のラケット、そりゃ乗り換え先のラケットが見つからない訳である。
このラケットが出ていたと思われる90年代がデカラケブーム、長ラケブームと呼ぶのだろうか、今となってはツアー系のOSモデルはブレードぐらいだろうし、0.5インチロングも数少ないしでラケットチェンジにはフィーリングが大きく変わる事を受け入れなければならない。
そしてストリングもヨネックスのマルチを使っていた筈が、本当はシャープで弾く打球感の方が好きだと言う。
長年使ったマルチの特性と相反してるような・・・。
再起を目指す父のラケット選びは難航するかに思われたが、何故か父はエスマッハ300を気に入ってしまった。
弟のテスト用に一本入手したエスマッハ300は、まあフレームは厚いし重さも標準的、父の年齢でも許容できる範囲だろうし、フレックスもこのスペックながら硬すぎないだろうから結構いい線行くラケットだと思って自分も提案はしていた。
ただし張ってあるストリングは弟が大好きなデビルスピン。
高い耐久性と威力を引き換えに硬く重い打球感と衝撃を与えるポリエステルは、まあ基本的には若者向け、どこのお店もまず中高年に積極的に勧める事は無いってのが一般的な認識かと思っています。
が、父はポリの打球感を気に入ってしまわれた。
年齢やブランクを考えてXワンバイフェイズの1.18mmとか、シャープさやパワーアシストのあるストリングを色々勧めてはみたが、長年使っていたのはマルチなのに気に入るのはポリというまさかの修羅の道。
歳が歳なのにポリ・・・本当に大丈夫なのだろうか。
思えば、高校時代からの付き合いで60の部の大会で暴れ回っているSコーチも何故かポリを張っている。
つい最近まではマルチを選んでいたのにどこのタイミングでこうなってしまったのか、今のガットは事もあろうにプロハリケーン。
せめて柔らかいタイプ使えばいいのにまさかの第一世代。
硬いし飛ばないだろうし、しかもプレステージに張ってるし、歳を重ねていく中で何故かどんどんシビアになっていくセッティング。
確かに動きは若々しく、大会では一人だけなんか別の競技の動きをしている程に見えるのですが・・・腕の方は大丈夫なのだろうか。
（って、俺がプロハリ張っちゃったんでしたっけ・・・？）
あと、坂井プロもこの前のレッスンで使ってたのは遠目だとV3.0にプロハリケーンに見えたような・・・まあでもレジェンドじゃあ例外か。
シニアプレーヤーにポリって大丈夫なの？って認識が拭えない自分からすると父がポリを使うのはいくらなんでも不安である。
しかしマルチフィラメントのホールドしたりぼやけたりする打球感は気に入らない。
という点を踏まえると、テクニファイバーのXコードがフィットするんじゃないかと思ったらとうの昔に廃盤になっていた。
外側がポリエステルで中身がマルチフィラメント、弾く打球感と腕を守る衝撃吸収性を兼ね備えて一石二鳥、かと思ったのですが何時の間に・・・。
その他に挙がるポリとマルチの混合タイプ、イソスピードのアクソンマルチが思い浮かびますがアレは外側は硬質なのだろうか、実物を見たことが無いので分からない。
スノワートのサニーコアもどうだろうか。
あと思い浮かぶのはゴーセンのILDぐらい。
あのガットであれば材質は完全ポリだし相当柔らかい。
どうやらILDも廃盤っぽいけどポリロンプレミアムがそれっぽいしまだ調達できそう。
鳴り物入りの4Gが硬くてイマイチに感じた頃に、テンション維持を強く意識した上に反発力もかなりあるって触れ込みでILDがやってきたのでこれは流行るだろうと思ったものですが、予想は外れてしまった・・・。
でもILD張って今度はデビルスピンと比べてガットが動いてホールドし過ぎるって言われたらもはやとうとう難しくなってくる。
そのままポリで年齢の壁突破してもらうしか（笑）
でも60代がポリでキレッキレの球打ってるのを身近で見ていると、歴戦のファイターの技量にかかればポリへの適応など容易い事なのかもしれない・・・？
もしやベテランJOPの試合でもポリユーザーが多かったりするのだろうか。
