母校の外部コーチであるSコーチが本日で引退だった。
前々からそろそろとは言っていたが自分が知ったのは今日でした。
自分が高校生の頃も含めて11年。
年齢的な事もあるが、近年の綾高のテニス部の活動がしっかりして一区切りついた、役目が終わったと言っていた。
自分の頃は良くも悪くも休日練習はコーチが練習を主導する事が多かったが、今の部活は生徒が練習を考え、仕切り、互いに教え合い高め合う、手のかからない部活となってしまった。
男女共に揃い、人が多く、地道な練習に取り組み、結果も少しずつ出てきている。
練習開始時の集合、ウォーミングアップの内周、僅か２面のコートに散らばって打ち始める様はゾロゾロとい過ぎて毎度の事ながら圧倒される。
そしてこれからの外部コーチは卒業した、テニスを真剣に続ける後輩が務める事になった。
自分も卒業して７年、昔感じていたものとは大きく違うものになった今の部活は懐かしさというか居場所だったというイメージがどんどん薄れていて、過去と同一視すると違和感が強い。
この部活の姿は望ましい形な訳で、今日までの間Sコーチは尽力されてきた。
俺ももう部活にとっては今とは違う時代の人間、これから先どうしていこうか。
アルバイトという形ではあるが一応はかつてテニスコーチの世界を少しだけ齧った事もある男、こうなった部活を見て、立派な後輩を見て、自分の中での区切りもある意味既についた後とも思うが、自分の力がもしまだ母校の為に有用であるのなら有難い限りである。
